Salma Slims is artist out of Atlanta, GA that is showcasing her own blend of luxury rap to the forefront with her latest project Runway Rapper alongside Private Club Records this rising artist isn’t looking back or slowing down. Today the talented Atlanta artist spoke with respect magazine about her latest project along with her future endeavors. So without any hold up let’s get to know Salma Slims

Robbie: What’s how are you? What have you been up to today? 

Salma: Heyyy, I just woke up I had a long night I was in the studio yesterday all night pretty much ! It’s 9:47amI’m in LA right now. 

Robbie:Starting from the beginning, How did you get into doing music and what and or who made you start taking music seriously?

Salma:I started making music very young Like when i was 15-16 I loved rapping and battling other guys who would rap at my school. I was also in a  girl group and that pretty much taught me the ins and outs to the music industry. 

Robbie: So from there how did you and Private Club Records come together and tell us about your experiences so far working with the label? 

Salma: I met Royce rizzy who is now “24hrs” and we got super cool his brother “Madeintyo started a collective Private Club Records and I been fucking with them pretty much ever since . I like working with the label it allows me to still be independent and build my brand without having strings attached ! I feel like I’m still in the growing stages in my career so It’s dope that i have a label and collective who fuck with me.

Robbie: As of 2019 you released your EP entitled  “Runway Rapper,” what was your focus during  This project, what is your favorite song and lastly what did you want your listeners to take away from Runway Rapper? 

Salma: I put this EP together sporadically!! I had a bunch of songs that didn’t fit into what i was currently working on so i wanted to put those songs out for people to hear! It’s a mixture of different songs !  My favorite song is “Seasoning” Runway Rapper is a lifestyle being fly and effortlessly sexy. The Rapper part is my lyricism and all that extra shit, but the Runway part is kind of my model-esque side. 

Robbie: So far as an artist what would you say has been the biggest lesson  you’ve learned that has helped you grow?  

Salma: Staying consistent and staying true to your sound no matter who try’s to come in and make you somebody your not  I’ve learned that hard work beats talent but talent and hard work together is the biggest weapon of all.

Robbie: Would you mind giving any advice for the young aspiring female artist looking to make her way in the world of hip hop? 

Salma:Keep your foot on they necks at all times Stay strong and be the boss of your own situation because nobody can tell you how to do you better than you can ! 

Robbie: What can we look forward to from you in the upcoming months /years? 

Salma:Visuals, shows, and new Merch is all on the way .

After gaining success as a rap artist, Salma headed to strip clubs like “Follies” and “Magic City” with her girls, inspiring her to write “100 Racks” from her 2016 EP Ghetto Girl Dream. “Everyone has that feeling when you get paid—especially in Atlanta,” the first lady of Private Club Records says, “It’s either you save your money or blow it all at the strip club.”

Salma Slims is a female rapper who rose to prominence after she became “First Lady” of Private Club Records. She is known for her hit singles “Who Is Salma Slims” and “The Diary of Salma Slims” among others. She has also appeared on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Amazing Vacation Homes.

She was born in Norfolk, Virginia, to Muslim immigrants, but moved to Atlanta when she was three. Her father was a successful businessman in Gambia who owned a shopping center and nightclub. She met her husband and rapper Royce Rizzy through Private Club. He is featured on several of her songs.

The last time we heard from the Salma Slims she delivered a quick-strike video for “Diary“— a captivating, hypnotic single that showcased her unwavering honesty. As the 1st Lady of Private Club continues to provide accompanying visuals for tracks off her recently released mixtape, Diary of Salma Slims, Salma’s Murda Beatz-produced single “Don’t Act” is next up. Joined by fellow Private Club emcee MyNamePhin, who released The Green Room EP with labelmate Noah Wood$ last month, “Don’t Act” is yet another hard-hitting effort from Slims. Proving to be just as verbally tenacious as she is seductive, the Atlanta native warns any man in pursuit of acting brand new. Directed by Kariuki.

The Private Club (MadeinTYO, Noah Wood$, MyNamePhin, Salma Slims) will be hitting the road on August 31st for The Private Club Tour, which will include over 20 dates as they are joined by special guests along the way. Private Club Records has garnered a significant amount attention of attention over the last year thanks to the inescapable success of MadeinTYO’s viral smash “Uber Everywhere” and Royce Rizzy’s recently released mixtape, Pre Rolled 2. Having the opportunity to hit the road with A$AP Ferg and Tory Lanez, while simultaneous doing a number of Pre Rolled 2 Tour dates, as well as a show series dubbed MadeinRizzy, the two brothers have also been working hard to cement the footing of the other members in the collective as they prepare them for similar success.

That’s where we meet First Lady of Private Club, Salma Slims. Slims adds another vital dimension to the crew. Continuing to ascend after recently releasing her Diary of Salma Slims mixtape, the First Lady of Private Club is currently readying a new EP currently set to arrive in July across all outlets, including retail. Before we receive her next project, Salma dives back into her aforementioned tape to provide an official music video for “Diary.”
