In the video, premiered by L.A. Leakers, Liife tells the story of a robbery-turned-deadly, as a crew of assailants run-up on a safehouse and commit some acts they can’t take back.

“I made ‘Blood On My Chucks’ kind of as a rendition to West Coast music,” says Liife to L.A. Leakers. “The whiny sound in the beat, the storytelling, that’s what West Coast music was always about. Growing up in Compton, all our idols told stories over dark beats and when I heard this one, I was inspired. I’m honored to be premiering it with the LA Leakers, they’ve always been a major support system for artists coming out the city.”

With a name that stands for “LIving In a Foul Environment,” Liife is a respected figure in the Compton rap community. He grew up listening to legends like Ice Cube and 2pac, and tightened up his wordplay enough to be mentioned in the same breath as neighborhood standouts like Kendrick Lamar and YG. After spending some time under the wing of artists like The Game and Chris Brown, Liife stepped out on his own in 2019, when he signed with Rostrum Records. The rhymer turned heads last summer when he dropped “Lifestyle,” which is approaching 1 million total streams, and earned his biggest hit to date with “Posing,” a sinister beat-shifting jam with an appearance from fellow Angeleno King Lil G.

“Liife is a one of a kind lyricist and recording artist. He speaks from his soul and wears his heart on his sleeve. I’m very excited to welcome him to the Rostrum family and to get his new music out ASAP,” says Rostrum President Benjy Grinberg.

If Liife seems familiar, it’s because he’s already worked with recognizable rap artists like Lil Wayne, Drake, and Quavo. The Compton rapper began penning rhymes at a young age and decided to pursue music as a career when he was 17-years-old.

“I chose to sign with Rostrum for a few reasons; they have a great history of artist development success with talents like Wiz Khalifa and the late great Mac Miller,” Liife said of his new label home. “Rostrum has also built a solid, independently major platform for artists like myself. I’m looking forward to working alongside Benjy and the entire team,” says Liife.

Meanwhile, Liife is currently working on his debut project that is slated for release later this year and an upcoming first single & visual is on the way.

The Rostrum Records Signee Also Announces 29-City Tour with Jarren Benton and Bingx

Emerging star, Caleb Brown, who was listed as one of Baton Rouge’s rising rappers, by XXL, returns to RESPECT. to release his debut album, All Dawgs Go To Heaven 2, in collaboration with independent label Rostrum Records and Do L.I.F.E. Records.

The 18-year- old’s album includes anthem-worthy single “W$GT$” and “Ghetto Religion,” which was released last Friday. Links to purchase and stream the full album can be found here.

With All Dawgs Go To Heaven 2, Brown introduces listeners to Baton Rouge, the Louisiana parish that raised him. Southern influences can be found throughout the album and Atlanta-based producer Wheezy creatively crafted multiple beats for the project. Best known for his work with Young Thug, Wheezy provides the perfect pairing to Brown’s powerfully packed lyrics on songs like “Chad Butler” and “Ghetto Religion.” Joi, a member of The Dungeon Family, makes a soulful appearance on “4 My Dawgs”and helps Brown pay homage to the high-spirited Gospel music he listened to as a child. Benton’s Mink Coat Killa Tour is slated to kick off on June 28 in Ottawa, Ontario and will feature Brown as well as Seattle rapper Bingx. The multi-city tour will include 29 stops in major cities across the nation including Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, Phoenix and Dallas.
