Mo’Nique has been catching a lot of flack for her stance against Netflix and other Black celebrities for what she has deemed as lack of support in the inequality struggle; but when it comes to the racist remarks made by fellow comedian Roseanne Barr, she seems to be all forgiving.

On Friday (Jul 27), Mo’Nique appeared on KTLA’s Morning News where she discussed her ongoing issues in Hollywood and revealed that when she had her own self-titled show that Roseanne was the only one who was in her corner when she faced the obstacles of breaking into late night.

“I remember when I had the ‘Mo’Nique Show,’ and there were big, major black superstar talent that had white representatives and they told their talent, ‘That show is too black and we really don’t want you to go on there,'” Mo’Nique said. “But there was a white woman named Roseanne Barr that showed up for me. … And they didn’t hear the conversation when the cameras wasn’t rolling. … That woman was giving me some beautiful words.”

The 2009 Academy Award winner then went on to call Roseanne her “sister in comedy” and revealed that she felt the infamous racist tweet was a “mistake”, not racism.

“My sister made a mistake and she said something I know she wishes she could take back,” Mo’Nique continued. “But what I would ask is we don’t throw her away.”

Barr herself seemed to echo those sentiments during her interview with Sean Hannity, when the disgraced comedian also claimed the backlash over the widely condemned racist tweet which led to ABC canceling her show was a huge misunderstanding.

“You could have knocked me over with a feather when they said she was African-American,” Barr told Hannity of the moment when executives from ABC asked her to explain the posting. “I thought she was Middle Eastern.”

Barr also revealed during an interview with Rabbi Shmuley that she planned on diversifying her writers during season 2 of her now-canceled show, but received so much pushback over her political backing on hate monger in chief Donald Trump that she “gave up”.

“People don’t understand that I had to fight so hard against 20 writers who hate Donald Trump to get this season going, so I just stopped fighting. I’m too old to fight. But it’s crazy because once we got past season 1, I planned on diving into harder topics like race in season 2; which is why DJ had the black daughter with the girl he wouldn’t kiss and he eventually married. I had plans on talking about race and hiring black writers to help with that.”

Roseanne contends that she has always been an advocate for the inclusion of Black writers on her show saying, “It’s overdue.”

“I have always been an advocate for Black writers, you can ask anyone, but getting black writers on a white show is so hard to do because Hollywood is so segregated. I don’t think it’s their choice, I just think it’s the system that’s set up.”

I wonder if this was before or after the Hitler photoshoot?
