There is a new boss in town and his name is Romeo Santos, the new CEO of Roc Nation Latin.  JAY Z’s Roc Nation launched their very own full-service latin division on Wednesday, June 8th.  The conversation between JAY Z and Santos had been going on for almost four years before the deal was inked.  According to Billboard, when Santos was approached at first, “I had a lot going on,” he said.  “I’m not superstitious, but I think the time is now.  When they came to us with the whole CEO proposal, I said, ‘This is a win-win situation.’ I always visualized myself in that position, and the way it was presented to me, I couldn’t say no.”

The focus for Roc Nation Latin will be to develop and cultivate Latin artists in all areas of their careers, seeking in the U.S. and globally.  Santos’ longtime manager, Johnny Marines, is president.  The deal, which was made official in the Roc Nation New York offices, makes Romeo an exclusive management client of Roc Nation, co-managed with Marines.  Santos has a current deal with Sony and it won’t be affected by Roc Nation.

The superstar told Billboard, “I’m not taking for granted being managed by Roc Nation.  They have a lot of relations. They have a certain reach that I clearly could benefit from. And dealing with JAY Z, who is an artist himself, that’s great. I’ve always idolized Jay. We both come from the ‘hood, and he gets it. So that was definitely also fundamental. But I’m really excited about giving back. This is my way of giving back.”

Romeo Santos also took to his IG to announce the news:

There’s always room for BIGGER things / Siempre hay espacio para seguir creciendo. I’m now CEO of roc nation Latin. Let’s go!

In a statement JAY Z said, “This is a tremendous step for Roc Nation.  We recognize there is a huge Latin market that is part of global culture. We’re proud and ready to enter into true partnership with an individual that intimately lives and knows that culture.”
