Frequent collaborators POUNDS and CRIMEAPPLE link up again in the stylish and cinematic new video for “Choices,” the Fith – produced burner off the Rochester, N.Y. native’s latest project, Pee Wee Kirkland.

Boasting direction from A1Vision, the visuals are crisp and fresh as they portray the late-night activities of the “Choices” emcees. The two post up at their usual haunts around the neighborhood and deliver their stellar verses while A1Vision captures the footage with different techniques.

For some shots, we see the two through the lens of an old-school, handheld Hi8 camera, which blends perfectly with the fact that POUNDS and CRIMEAPPLE are definitely making their mafioso-rap godfathers proud here. But we also get some fresh HD footage that modernizes the clip, which is a subtle nod to the overall sound presented here: current, but steeped in classic hip-hop.

It’s those little touches that make the “Choices” video—and POUNDS’ entire body of work for that matter—so damn enjoyable. Head over to Bandcamp to support Pee Wee Kirkland, which is produced entirely by Fith, and also features Dwayne Collins and Meyhem Lauren.

Pounds continues to torch the streets with back to back cadenced heat.

As a follow up to his recent single, featuring the F*ck That’s Delicious veteran rapper, Meyhem Lauren, the Rochester overlord unleashes visuals to a new joint titled “Traffic“. The up north banger features fellow Rochester dweller, Dwayne Collins on the vocals, and is produced by another native of the town, Lil Eto.

The Mercenary Films– directed video takes place in New York City, where you’ll see Pounds, alongside Dwayne, riding through recognizable blocks, conducting business after dark.  “Traffic” exemplifies gutter rap in boss-like fashion, as Pounds delivers factual and forceful lyrics with imperious demeanor.

“You aint never seen boss money/

Fat f*ck but my packs do the cross country”

POUNDS makes it very clear that he’s cut from a similar anti-hero, mafioso-rap cloth that led to so many classic records over the years. Armed with his unique voice and meditative delivery, he draws inspiration from the artists he listened to growing up (Mobb Deep, Sean Price, Nas) and pens gritty street tales that are all his own.

The VHS-produced track stems from the rapper’s great October release, Rules and Parameters, that further demonstrated his knack for delivering lyrically vivid mafioso rap. After all, this particular sub-genre is at its finest when emcees can bring such harsh, difficult stories to life with their words. And to say Pounds does that on “Francis Ford” would be an understatement.

The Upstate New York rapper is conflicted not just on the track, but in the video as well. Otto captures this with scenes of Pounds contemplating his life as a hustler and as a father, two hats he wears proudly but, again, with severe conflict. It’s for those reasons that when he spits bars like, “The city’s on fire so I gotta vent/ Make it past twenty’s an accomplishment,” you can feel that mental struggle.

The larger-the-life emcee is gearing up to release TUNA in the coming months, and before we get a taste, the former battle rapper wants the world to savor joints like the Fifth-produced “Kill You.”And it’s easy to understand why when you hear him drop ridiculous bars like, “Get you dumped on, cheap/ While I get my lunch on/ Cheese and duck confit.”

His vivid lyrical imagery comes to life through the lens of Otto The Director, who follows Pounds and Conway through contrasting settings filled with abandoned buildings and mouthwatering meals. We also get taken to church thanks to the closing vocals of I. Am. Tru. Starr, whose chilling words are draped over a scene of a snowy graveyard.
