Unless you’ve been living under a rock, don’t like Hip-Hop or are just a bitter East Coast head — yeah, we see you — then I’m sure you’ve heard about California supergroup Shoreline Mafia. After bursting on the scene courtesy of the smash hit, “Musty” that saw Fenix Flexin & OhGeesy become hot prospects, Shoreline member Rob Vicious delivers his soon-to-be-classic album Traplantic.

Clocking in at a perfectly sequenced 11 tracks, Traplantic is simultaneously the perfect introduction to Rob Vicious for new fans, as well as a reminder that the group as a whole is a fucking problem. On the Honorable C-Note produced intro, “C Notes,” you see a perfect example of this, as 3 of the 4 members float perfectly over C-Note’s eerie keys and thumping bass.

But you can’t forget Master Kato, the groups enigmatic 4th member, who delivers the best hook of the whole album on, “Get It,” a new LA trap anthem in the making.

Despite leaning on his brothers for the assists, Vicious proves on multiple occasions that it’s a luxury for the listener, not a necessity for success. Some of the best songs on this album such as, “LA Flocker/Rackae,” feature Vicious spazzing out all by his lonely, creating a path that I predict will ultimately lead him to Southern California Hood Infamy.

With Shoreline signing a deal with Atlantic Records and seemingly taking over the West Coast for the time being, it’s safe to say that the group is here to stay. & I proudly wrote this article without even mentioning their next potential smash, “Bands.” Listen below and get familiar with the LA natives.
