The internet age speaks to dubious artists of any practice that felt the climate of their chosen industry was unfriendly toward newcomers. The case remains alive and breathing today, though more and more talents put their work on the internet for easier display to a wide audience. Producers, singers, artists, filmmakers; the other side of the coin is a depressing one, though. Until you get cut a check it’s difficult times with money, ironically in a culture which places so much emphasis on it. Rob Diloia‘s grasp on this is visceral in his lyrics on “Ain’t Shit Free,” where he reflects vividly on coming up and hustling against odds both external and internal, and learning that everything, regardless of if the cost is monetary or emotional, has a price tag.

Small town mindsets are difficult to kill and a move to the city can help put it in a coffin. After relocating from a small Pennsylvanian town to New York, Rob’s work ethic and infatuation with music grew up, though the daunting thought of success and the challenging path to it held him down, and it led him to move back to his original town, where he felt lost and with no ambition. It took no time for him to see that it’s a common scenario, as plenty of his friends were in similar situations involving lost identities. The thoughts and reflections comes pouring out on “Ain’t Shit Free.”

Rob Diloia’s Look What I Found is preceded by the aforementioned single, as well as “Out Front” and the title track. You can follow Rob on Twitter, Instagram, and Soundcloud, and look out for the full project out sometime soon.
