Travel to Hip-Hop’s underground with Rite Hook and Chris Rivers in their new video for “The Motions,” their fiery collaboration off Leedz Edutainment’s recently released compilation, Eastern Standard.

Boston (Hook) meets the Bronx (Rivers) in these visuals from Myster DL, of Ill Mannered Films and Photography, whose direction gets to the root of what “The Motions” is all about. Lyrically, it’s a snarling middle-finger to anyone trying to bring you down and keep you beneath where you deserve to be in life. It’s fitting, then, that DL plays with the lighting and incorporates visual trickery (the kaleidoscope effect) to capture that same vibe in this video.

As you’ll see in the clip, both emcees travel in and out of the light as they deliver their often-personal rhymes over The Arcitype’s production, which bumps, rattles, and swings beneath the surface. Hip-Hop heads looking for that raw will certainly have a new favorite track in “The Motions,” which happens to be one of many standout cuts on Eastern Standard. If you consider yourself a fan of the culture, you better not be snoozing on this compilation that also boasts Michael Christmas, Ransom, Slaine, Chris Orrick, STL GLD, Spose, K.A.A.N., and many others.

Leedz Edutainment’s highly anticipated compilation project, Eastern Standard, is almost here and to celebrate, one of their most talented and featured artists, Rite Hook, delivers an impressive and gripping verse as part of a recent in-studio performance.

The proud Beantown artist flexes his rhyming talents by rattling off quotables for nearly two minutes straight, including some well-aimed shots at his enemies and acknowledgement of his troubled past. Hook may be known to some as one of underground Hip-Hop’s stronger vocal and songwriting talents, but he’s showing here that he can absolutely spit with the best of ‘em.

Beantown’s Rite Hook offers a glimpse into his creative process with the aptly titled “On the Spot.” The Rose Glen Ent., directed video documents a studio session with Hook’s frequent collaborator, and fellow Bostonian, The Arcitype, whose produced tracks for the likes of Termanology, Jared Evan, Reks, Slaine, Vinnie Paz, Ruste Jaxx, Neek the Exotic and more.

The black-and-white visuals kick off with Arc layering his musing backdrop of melodic keys, raw drums, and skittering hi-hats. It makes for the perfect accompaniment to Hook’s diverse delivery, which seamlessly hops from dizzying double-time raps to gruff sing-song, to full-on crooner.

What’s most impressive here—beyond his chops as a songwriter—is the fact that he sounds like two different people. It’s one thing to try your hand at rapping and singing, though it’s inevitable that one talent will overshadow the other. The thing is, that’s not the case with Hook, as he displays his ability to rhyme and sing with the best of ‘em.

The audio version of “On The Spot” is now available for free download exclusively via 2DopeBoyz, who are also offering a T-Shirt giveaway, courtesy of Rite Hook, which will last through this Friday (2/26).  Although a release date has yet to be confirmed, be on the lookout for more updates from Rite Hooks forthcoming LP,Modify, which is set to drop via Leedz Edutainment. In the interim, be sure to check out Hook’s two previous leaks, “The Motions,” another Arcitype banger that includes a notable guest feature from Big Pun’s son, Chris Rivers, as well as the Snicknature (of Snowgoons) produced, heater, “The Road.”

As Rite Hook continues to prep his next full-length project Modify, the Boston emcee delivers another standout track with, “The Motions.” It’s an anthem for anyone tired of the bullsh*t and verbal garbage that can too often weigh us down.

The track is fueled by a piano-laced slapper courtesy of The Arcitype, who also resides in Boston and has worked with the likes of Termanology, Slaine, Reks and more. But it’s not an all-Beantown-everything affair on here, because Hook is joined on “The Motions” by New York spitter, Chris Rivers (aka Big Pun’s son). The Big Apple rapper does his namesake proud with a verse littered with slick, blistering rhymes that match the track’s theme of rising above the snakes and staying true to both yourself and your artistry.

Bostonian spitter, Rite Hook prepares for his third LP, Modify, which is set to drop early ’16 via Leedz Edutainment. In doing so, he connects with Germany’s Sicknature of the acclaimed Hip-Hop production consortium, Snowgoons, for the project’s debut leak, “The Road.” The track not only showcases Hook’s ability to spit verses with reckless abandon over Sicknature’s high powered instrumental, but also demonstrates Hook’s knack for executing flawless, well…hooks. Where the typical route for a basement banger of this magnitude would be to go with a scratch chorus, Hook proves that good songwriting is a necessary nutrient for any track, regardless of sub-genre.
