You may be familiar with Richie from his various collaborations with Lil Boosie, Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, The Game and more as he is heavy in the mixtape circuit & has dropped over 10 mixtapes with DJ Spinatik from StreetRunnaz.

Last year Richie released a collaborated 4 song EP that was produced solely by the young producer extraordinaire Metro Boomin entilted “Richie Boomin” that circulated the successfully circulated the blogosphere. ‘Lord Finesse’ is his latest release which features collaborations from Fat Joe, Metro Boomin, Jose Guapo, Og Maco, Jay Critch and More.

Unless you’ve been under a rock for the past few years, you’ve probably heard Metro Boomin‘s signature tag line a few more than a few times. The 22-year-old producer/DJ has been behind some of the most influential hits from stars like Kanye West, Future and Drake. He’s also been behind underground staples like 21 Savage and Nyck Caution as well, so it’s no surprise that he would team up with mixtape guru Richie Wess to pump out Richie Boomin, a 4-track EP that’s executive produced by Boomin and features beat production from Sonny Digital, 808 Mafia, Zaytoven and Soufside.

Though the production is jaw dropping, it’s far from overshadowing. Wess effortlessly bodies each banger while maintaining a cool, suave demeanor. We got a chance to rap with the Tampa rep about a few things concerning the project, how he linked with Metro, and more.

RESPECT.: How did the idea for this project come about?

Wess: The idea came about based off of the records I had recorded. I’ve never done an EP, but when I heard all of the Metro (Boomin) joints I had recorded, they all went together with a sort of theme. I’ve always liked themed based projects.

RESPECT.: How did you link up with Metro Boomin?

Wess: I linked with Metro first about a year ago through my DJ (Spinatik). He worked with us on a record called “Pull Up” with Sy Ari Da Kid, Cap 1, Yung Dred and Kap G. I feel he’s bringing a different dynamic to music right now. As you will hear on this project, no one song sounds the same.

RESPECT.: When can fans expect a full length project?

Wess: Very soon! I dropped a project with Yung Dred called, My Brother and Me, that went crazy. You can expect a full follow up to that soon and the Street Runnaz album also. Look out for DJ Spinatik‘s new record “Life Line” off of that Street Runnaz album that will feature Quavo and Offset. Coming soon, like real soon.
