Rapper and songwriter Rell G is putting on for his city in a major way. With an original sound, a vision and a couple of popping records, he is doing everything necessary to garner success in an infinite way.

I had the pleasure of catching up with the Indiana native for a quick Q&A session. He openly discussed his sound, growing up in the hometown of the Jackson’s and his passion for music.

Respect: Who is Rell G?

Rell G: Rel G is a serious rapper who uses music to fight anger, pain, and aggression that started in my childhood. Growing up without a father was really damaging to me and made me who I am today.

Growing up in Gary, IN & Chicago, I saw a lot of gang violence shootouts and that negatively effected me. I knew it was my time to get out of Gary when I went to jail for posssession of cannabis .

By the grace of GOD, I told the judge I took the AS-VAB to join the military and got off the hook. As long as I didn’t come back in her court room I was good.

Respect: In what ways have your hometown impacted you musically?
Rell: My hometown has impacted me musically by giving me a chip on my shoulder in anything I do, because a lot of people don’t know about Gary, Indiana. We are a mini Chicago for real for real. It’s not music to do but hoop when you in high school, sell dope , nobody really ever makes it out. I’m going to make it out .
Respect: How would you best describe your sound?
Rell: My sound to me is fast pace lyrical catchy phrases. I feel like i can get on any track and go crazy on it fornreal for real. On my new project I open up more on what inspires me. More of story behind me on this one .
Respect: When can we expect new material from you?

Rell: I have my second video From Me To You dropping soon and a forthcoming mixtape March Madness dropping this month. This Mixtape you all will be able to hear my story more while I bring the world closer to who I really am and what I’m bout. 

Repsect: What are you looking forward to most in 2019?
Rell: I’m looking forward to getting more exposure. Making more content for people to view listen and love.I want to increase my fan base and make it to the point that I have die hard fans.
