Now, months later, he’s become a prophet. After announcing that he is “a god” on Yeezus, an entire religion has been dedicated to him. This new religious faith is call Yeezianity; it boasts the values of power and creativity.

We are an anonymous group who believes that the one who calls himself Yeezus is a divine being who has been sent by God to usher in a New Age of humanity. (…) Our membership is entirely anonymous. We insist that all of our members do not disclose their beliefs to anyone except those they know also to be members.

In order to join the Church of Yeezus you need to become a “Ye’ciple” which requires taking unidentifiable picture of yourself holding up a piece of paper or some other creative design stating “I Believe In Yeezus” and emailing it to a rep of the website. This seems much more of a trend along the lines of planking and batmanning than a religious faith.

Are you ready to convert?

Simply put, Haring tried to make the world better and more thoughtful with his art. Even when he was ill, he remained an activist and joined a group to protest for safe sex. On September 15, 1985 he drew his piece Untitled, which portrays a monster whose body is covered by a red cross, symbolic of the presence of disease in the world

Haring’s work first appears playful and child-friendly, but it is the work of an enraged man. In spite of the color selection, there is an extreme presence of violence: the exhibit puts forth a story, placed into chapters by theme: Capitalism, Religion, Mass Media, The Fear of Nuclear, AIDS, Death. None of these themes belong solely to the past. His characters are in-temporal, not only due to the themes they embody but because of their lack of faces. They could be anyone; they are each of us.
