Looking to bridge the gap between both the conscious and cool, DMV native Jay IDK prepares for the release of his highly anticipated album, “SubTrap.”

“SubTrap,” short for Suburban Trap, serves as a paradox of trap music with substance. Loosely based on the life of the London born emcee, the forthcoming LP gives an unbiased account of life on both sides of the drug game. Personified through the characters: Chris, Jon Jon, Matt, Ed and King Trappy III (pictured on the LP’s artwork) who you should already be familiar with if you’ve listened to the albums 1st single “The Plug,” which was liberated back in March (2015) via COMPLEX.

Mixed by Delbert Bowers (Yeezus, Long.Live.A$AP, The Marshall Mathers LP2), the projects artwork was crafted by graphic artist Nicky Chulo (GoldLink, Chaz French, REVOLT TV) while production duties were split between in-house instrumentalist Lo-Fi, TDE frequent collaborator Skhyehutch (Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city hymn “I’m Dying of Thirst”), Tobari, GameBrand, The Glitch Mob, Noose, Mister Temptation, The Watcherz and Jay himself.

#MeekMillSeason is officially underway with the announcement of the release date for Meek‘s highly anticipated sophomore album entitled, Dreams Worth More Than Money, slated to drop June 29th. He took to Twitter recently to provide fans with an iTunes pre-order link, which you can check out for yourself below. Meek has been dropping teasers for months now, so it’s refreshing to see a full track list with a date attached to it. The only song noticeably absent is the joint he has with Ty Dolla $ign entitled, “She Don’t Know,” which was previewed in a vlog from last year and was also leaked on the net not so long after. Could the final version be included as a bonus track perhaps? We’ll just have to wait and see.  The project includes features from artists such as The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, Future, Ross, Diddy, and Drake. It is sure to enliven this already lit year we’ve been having in hip-hop.

K.R.I.T. has finally announced the release date of his sophomore album. Cadillactica. The much anticipated album will be released on November 11, 2014. He’s quiet about the guest features, but reassures that his fellow Multi Alumni member, Big Sant, will definitely be making an appearance. K.R.I.T.  has also made mention that he’s collaborating with other producers as well. If the album’s first single, “Pay Attention” featuring Rico Love and the recently released mixtape See Me On Top 4  gives listeners any kind of indication of what to expect from Cadillactica, fans can rest assured  that it will be a certified banger. Jay Elect is more prone to drunk tweeting than he is to releasing music, but his latest tweets seem to be of sober mind and, if speculation is accurate, fans are in store for a hot summer.

Prior to announcing his new YouTube page (his “We Made It” Remix is the sole upload to date), the reclusive rapper tweeted out that he has something planned for July 12. While there’s no indication as to what he meant, it’s possible — given his that his boss Jay Z is all about new rules and surprise albums — that this could be the release date for the long-awaited Act II album. Over the last few months, we’ve certainly gotten an increase in music production from Jay Elect and he could be gearing up for the album drop. Only time will tell.

After a seemingly endless amount of delays, the Entourage movie is finally in full swing. Doug Ellin, the show’s creator, has been photo-happy on Instagram as of late, posting numerous images from the set. In that mass of photos, Kid Cudi has popped up a couple of times (the rapper will be playing Ari Gold’s assistant in the film). Up top, you’ll see Cudi with Jeremy Piven (Ari Gold), Doug Ellin, as well as Super Bowl winning Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.
