As they appear on the project, the songs include guest features—Bumpy Knuckles and DJ Modesty, respectively—but the focus in this clip remains on solely on Reed. And rightfully so, because the tri-state area artist served as the project’s primary beat conductor. Not only did he write the super-gutter bars, but he produced the equally grimy instrumentals for both “Pathetic M.C.’s” and “Doo Doo.”

The video is directed by the Last American B-Boy, a multi-talented artist known for his raw approach that typically captures emcees in their element. For Reed, that means holding the camera’s attention while spitting his hard-nosed rhymes.

Longtime tri-state area rap bully Ran Reed is here to let every damn wack rapper in earshot know that their days are numbered on his infectious new banger, “Pathetic M.C.’s.” And because his harsh words apparently weren’t enough to drive that point home, he enlisted one of Hip-Hop’s biggest bruisers, Long Island’s Bumpy Knuckles, for a guest feature.

As you may expect, the two complement each other perfectly on here as they trade verses overflowing with tough talk and bravado. That goes for whether Bumpy’s spitting hilarious lines about being the “U.S.S. O.G.,” or Reed is taking down his opponents at the start with: “Rappers ain’t rappin’ no more, they straight mumblin’/ Give them a year, their career start crumblin’.”

Not to be outdone, Reed also produced the snarling, sample-flipping instrumental for “Pathetic M.C.’s,” which was inspired both sonically and conceptually from Ultramagnetic MC’s time honored classic, “Ego Trippin’.” You can expect to hear more cuts like this on Reed’s heavily anticipated new release, Still Commanding Respect.

“Pathetic M.C.’s” can now be streamed right here courtesy of RESPECT., and is available for download as the third and final instant grat track off the iTunes pre-order for Still Commanding Respect, which drops this Friday. Paterson, NJ’s Ran Reed first broke ground in the mid ‘90s. After building a substantial catalog under the tutelage of his fellow Garden State beatsmith/deejay, Nick Wiz (Rawkus Records, Rakim), the talented emcee/producer would eventually drop a retrospective greatest hits of sorts, in the form of Respect the Architect. Although this project wasn’t released until January of 2012, via No Sleep Recordings, it makes one wonder if his full potential has yet to be realized. Well it seems as if that’s all about to change as Reed gets set to drop a barrage of hay-makers in promotion of a forthcoming, full length effort.

Although a release date or title have yet to be determined, that hasn’t stopped the Silk City native from wetting our appetites with a taste of what’s to come. This ors d’oeuvres of sorts comes in the form of “Gun Boy Anthem,” which features the lyrical pandemonium of none other than Hip-Hop’s first family, M.O.P. Reed’s electrifying synths and racing drums welcomes his laid back, albeit menacing, flow that sets the stage for the reckless abandonment of Lil Fame and Billy Danze. If this is what we can expect on his album than it’s going to be a cold winter, better bundle up. Hit that play button below!
