Come August 16th, Atlanta-based dynasty Quality Control will liberate the official sequel to 2017’s Control The Streets, Vol. 1. Following singles featuring City Girls, Lil Baby and more, fans now get to check out a new visual for what’s presumed to be the forthcoming compilation’s intro (because, you know, it’s called “Intro”) featuring QC veterans Migos and Lil Yachty alongside ATL legend Gucci Mane.

Put on your best, get a fly car and head to the club parking lot with the collaborators below. Also added: another recent drop titled “Longtime” featuring 24Heavy and Young Thug.

Atlanta-based record label Quality Control is continuing to push the agenda of their forthcoming compilation album ‘Quality Control: Control The Streets Volume 2.’ Last week, we got a sneak peek of the project with their pair or pre-release singles: “Baby” and “Come On.” Today, ATL rapper Marlo drops the visuals for “Soakin Wet” featuring labelmates Offset and City Girls.

The OG Parker and Hitmaka-produced track release back in May. “Soakin Wet” is a sexually explicit track, referencing the woman’s vagina, hence the title. “Marlo’s been in development with QC these past two years and this summer is when people will really see his incredible talent,” Pee, CEO of QC, says in their latest press release.

FREETHEFALL is the latest project to hit from Quality Control’s own Jayaire Woods. This Chicago rapper is making a name for himself with his eccentric style of rapping and singing. Currently he is on tour with Lil Yatchy and showing the world why he is able to uphold the expanding legacy that Quality Control is building.

With no features on this project (besides the one track he has with Lil Yatchy), Jayaire uses the mixtape as a way to really get in-tuned with his audience.

When Lil Yachty dropped his Lil Boat mixtape at the beginning of 2016, we don’t think anyone saw the type of buzz it would create for the Atlanta artist. Compile that with the success of the single “Broccoli”, a collaboration between him and Virginia native D.R.A.M, and you can see why Lil Boat has become a breakout star in the hip-hop industry.

Now Yachty returns with the highly anticipated follow-up tape Summer Songs 2. In short, this project is a step forward in “Minnesota” artist’s sound.

Lyrically Yachty is getting a little more diverse on his delivery. Lil Boat’s flows on the track “For Hot 97” and “Shoot out The Roof ” are a step forward from what was displayed on the Lil Boat mixtape. Yachty also flaunts his new Quality Control endorsement. On the track “Dipset,” Yachty enlist fellow QC artist, and one third of the Migos, Offset.

This record is one of the many standout moments on this Summer Songs 2. Lil Boat delivers a solid verse while also laying down an infectious hook. While Offset shows off how versatile his delivery is, even on a beat that he normally wouldn’t be on.

Even with the progress Yachty has made lyrically on this project, it is still only one component of his sound. On Lil Yachty’s more melodic tracks, he continues to impress with the ability to make a catchy hook. The tracks “Life Goes on” and “Pretty” shocked me on how emotional they were. “Life Goes On” is another record where Yachty continues to spread his message of positivity and empowerment.

Lil Yachty recalls memories of when he was in college struggling to find his direction. While “Pretty,” is a love ballad that is so surprisingly sweet, it will make you ask ‘is this the same kid who made “One Night“?’

Both of these two records are great examples of Yachty’s growth as a songwriter. There are a few hiccups on the tape, though not many. The songs “IDK” and “Why” could both have been released separately from the tape. Both of the tracks have no really thought behind them like some of the previously discussed records. They really don’t bring any value to Summer Songs 2 at all.

In closing, Lil Yachty took a step in the right direction with this tape. Summer Songs 2 is a worthy follow up the internet sensation that was the Lil Boat mixtape.

His song with Virgina wordsmith, D.R.A.M called “Broccoli” has been hot in the clubs and is quickly rising on the charts.

Add a 2016 XXL Freshman class roster spot and you have one of the greatest starts for a new artist in a long time. Last night, Lil Yachty released a new track to garner hype for his next mixtape Summer Songs II.

“Like Wassup” is a high energy track that has been a staple of Lil Boat’s posse tracks with artist K$upreme and Big Bruthaachuba. Yachty’s fans on social media seem to appreciate the new Quality Control‘s artist latest release.

From the Yeezy Season 3 runway to a project that seems to have appeared from the thin Atlanta air, Yachty’s rise has been anything but orthodox. Red beaded braids, gold teeth, and pioneering mentality, the Sailing Team front man’s gurgle-rap sound and drowned out sonics make for a drug-fueled, trippy narrative from the quirky mind of the Lil Boat artist. Sitting at 14 cuts, Lil Boat is a windy path of masterful off-key notes, hilariously adroit punchlines, and a tangibly relatable simplicity. Yacht’s “Minnesota” remix enlists the help of Migos’ Quavo and Young Thug and is the major standout from the project, but records like “Not My Bro, “Good Day,” (w/ Quality Control’s Skippa Da Flippa) and “1Night” give us a fist hand look at what happens when quirky meets musical evolution. Lil Boat is youth; a first-hand rendering of an Atlanta wave that continues to bend and flip the original ideal of Hip-Hop sound. Lil Boat (and Yachty himself) exist somewhere between an eclectically-driven rock star and a Hip-Hop character whose identity is nearly as intriguing as the actual music itself. Sure, the Kanye co-sign has placed Yachty in a very fortunate position, but in a time where appearance can take precedence, the 18-year old ATLien is absolutely seizing the moment. And the boat imagery? Flawless.
