You ever had someone make you feel small? Or like you weren’t good enough for them? It seems many of us have. BUT even with those negative feelings surrounding us, we have managed to push through and realize our worth. Realize we are stars! 

Parris Chariz’s newest track, “Star” speaks to his own personal experience with a woman that didn’t appreciate him or value his worth but he reminded himself that he didn’t need that type of energy around him. “The inspiration [for ‘Star’] comes from a personal experience I had of getting played by a girl I thought liked me, and really it was just convenient. I think as a man it’s kinda weird to say you gotta know your worth but, it’s true I had to understand I was a star and act accordingly.”

Positivity always out shines negativity. And when someone is trying to bring negativity to you, you stand tall and show them they can’t out shine you. Because that’s what stars do.

RESPECT.: What about the production made you decide that this was the sound you wanted?

Parris: The moment I heard the melody I knew it was perfect! The drums just made it hit home. All together it plainly said to me that I have to keep it a 100 with myself and move like the star I am! 

RESPECT.: What would you like listeners to get from the track?

Parris: I want them to know their worth, know that they’re a star! From their own experiences that have worn them out, when they hear this I want them to feel every line in their soul! I want them to know they are still here for a reason and can make the decision today to act like the star they are.

RESPECT.: What is coming up next for Parris Chariz?

Parris: Next is the album which has been in the works for over a year! I’m excited to let that simmer and prayerfully we can get on the road this summer. We got some visuals still in the works too! I have a ton of songs for the year, but we want to move with the spirit.

You ever try to be so smooth that it comes off as the opposite? And your friends can’t help but clown you about it? Welcome to a day in the life of Parris Chariz.

In his newest video, “Smooth Operator,” Parris tries to show his friends how smooth he can really be but they ain’t having it and they surely DON’T hold back. From showing up to a team meeting in what looks like a runner’s outfit (that’s a thing, right?) to trying to finesse things with a chick, Parris just ain’t hitting on the smooth meter. Of course, the video is all laughs and a fun way to show that having confidence in yourself is all that matters.

Aside from the release of his video, Parris has truly been making his mark in the music industry. His last album, ‘In My Weakness’ was a pleasant surprise for hip-hop fans and Parris gained a ton of support from other artists and listeners. 

Now, gearing up for his next album, Parris Chariz is definitely putting together something unforgettable. I mean, if “Smooth Operator” is a testament of what is to come, we won’t be disappointed.

Most are using today to celebrate Valentine’s Day but we’re truly celebrating the release of Detroit’s very own, Parris Chariz’s, “Smooth Operator.” 

Fresh off of his upcoming album, “Smooth Operator” features that unique sound that only Parris can offer. The single has a trap beat to it that you can hear Parris rapping over, “I call plays I’m a smooth operator/

I put my cape down I didn’t say that I’ma save her/I’m dressed in black look like I came up with the Raiders/Told her I was different I didn’t say that I’m the greatest/Just make the call you need a smooth operator.”

Along with the release of his new single, Parris is also celebrating recently being signed to Amplify. Good things are coming Parris’ way including his upcoming album! And just like his last album, “In My Weakness,” this upcoming album is exactly what hip-hop fans are going to need. “Smooth Operator” is a true testament to that.
