Louisville native, King Vory has built a steady buzz the past year and finally unleashes his mixtape, Overdose. Known for multiple collaborations with fellow Louisville native, Bryson Tiller, Vory appeared on Tiller’s breakout smash “Don’t” as well as “Break Bread”. From there a string of Vory releases caught the attention of OVO Radio, in particular the title track “Overdose” which received heavy rotation and has gone on to become a viral hit – eclipsing 1 million plays.

The project includes production from Zaytoven, Nick E Beats, Alex Mescudi, Ayo & Keyz and shows why Vory is on the verge of a major breakout in 2016. Check out the single below, via Soundcloud, and be sure to let us know your thoughts.

Rapper DMX was found unresponsive in a New York hotel parking lot. Yonkers police responded to a call about an ‘unconscious male’ who appeared to be ‘lifeless.’ According to TMZ the troubled rapper was found without a pulse, and not breathing when police found him.

A representative for DMX, whom real name is Earl Simmons, said the rapper suffered from an asthma attack, but TMZ cites he was suffering from a drug overdose, and was given Narcan, a antidote to narcotic overdoses and CPR was performed. One minute later he became “semi-conscious” and was taken to the hospital for further examination.

Story developing…

Rapper Trinidad James along with Crenshaw Peace Activist Big U gave back to the community in Los Angeles over the weekend with their own sneaker drive and celebrity basketball game. Garnering sneaker donations, the event gained a lot of support from over 100 local families and celebrities alike who came out to watch the Camp James (Founded by Trinidad James) basketball game. Supplying the sounds for the event, DJ Looney and Power 106 DJ’s were on the wheels of steel. Making sure everyone joined in on the fun, the Camp James Founder ran raffles (Can we say free Jordans along with other prizes?) and handed out gift bags. Celebrities in attendance to the star-studdded event included Nipsey Hussle, Problem, Hit Boy, Rosa Acosta, Michael Blackson, Kevin McCall, Compton AV, Stevie Williams, Lil Rome Diddy, Moniece Slaughter, Quarter Bird, King Keraun, Jay 305, Lisa B, Eastwood, Cameo, Reazon, Overdose, and Raquel Harper.
His most recent release is a stand out for sure. “Overdose” finds Freddy rhyming over a chopped-not-slopped Datamosh-produced instrumental sampling Britney Spear’s “Toxic,” using her “Too high, can’t come down,” metaphor for being high on love in a more literal sense in this case. The woozy beat paired with Freddy’s aggressive lyricism makes for a perfect introduction to this emcee, if you haven’t already heard his music. Listen to “Overdose” here and be on the look out for more from Mr. Stone.

A$AP Yams passed away in his sleep back on January 18 and there was immediate speculation stemming from his last tweet posted that his death may have been drug-related.

Fellow A$AP Mob members A$AP Ant and A$AP Rocky released statements denying rumors that Yams’ death had been caused by drug use or overdose. At Sundance Festival, Rocky stated, “People were saying that Yams overdosed on drugs — he didn’t overdose on any drugs, I feel like people feel that way because that’s all he’s in pictures doing. When you see A$AP Yams you see Hennessey or purple drink, you see some type of controlled substance or illegal narcotic.”

Earlier today (March 19), the New York Times’ Jon Caramanica tweeted that the Chief Medical Examiner’s report concluded that the 26-year-old Harlem native, born Steven Rodriguez, died due to acute mixed drug intoxication. The report revealed that opiates and benzodiazepine were found in Yams’ system, and his death has been ruled accidental.

Rest in power A$AP Yams.
