The Polaroid series One Shot documents people of diverse ethnicities and life experience and through their style, body language and body art captures expressions of their individuality. The overlaying of handwritten graffiti, name or signature on each portrait bears another layer of expression providing further insight to those photographed.

Inspired by the immediacy of the Polaroid, each subject was given one opportunity to be photographed. One shot. Unlike the images taken with digital cameras, the Polaroid image cannot be edited. Consequently there is a rawness, a sense of spontaneity and chance. Each image is unique.

The series was photographed in Canberra, Sydney and Los Angeles between February and May 2011.
