Bobby Hagens travels through emotional depths with the crooning of BJ The Chicago Kid on “Lost Wild.” This record resembles Bobby’s journey; an introspective outlay of pain, struggle, growth, and creative maturation. Bobby’s tale lyrically and dramatically ventures to a place where pain begets artistry, supplemented by the soulful touch of BJ’s vocals and a Jazz-like undertone. “Lost Wild” is a promising comeback of sorts from Bobby, making a statement that the record’s beauty is indeed in the message.

Tanya Morgan, a rap duo and former rap trio that originally formed on the Okayplayer message boards, is releasing their album Rubber Souls on September 24. Promoting the album, the funny pair sat down with Three/21 Media for a brief interview in which they cover a range of topics, most notably the ones listed in this article’s title. Artists’ personalities and their music aren’t always equally appealing, but Tanya Morgan is lighthearted, self-deprecating and thoughtful in a very engaging and promising way, so the music presumably follows suit. Mark your calendars and check out the interview and their song, “For Real,” below.

Clear Soul Forces is back with another fresh visual for their upcoming album, Gold PP7s. Produced by in-house producer and emcee Ilajide, “Ain’t Playin” features the Detroit crew’s signature high-impact rhymes and crafty wordplay. What really stands out, however, is how seamlessly they execute transitions between verses. If you pay attention, you’ll notice that except for the final verse, the chorus starts with the person who previously rapped, who is joined by the person waiting in the queue for the next verse. It’s a minor detail, but it really helps move the song along without losing momentum and makes the verses cohere. DJ Khaled should take note. Watch below and peep the tracklist for Gold pp7s over at Okayplayer.
