The latest visuals from Hip-Hop duo NEFEW, “Settle for Less,” provide much more than your typical music video, because these two have revealed what’s essentially a short film set to their own music. And not to be outdone, they directed it themselves.

The duo of rapper/producer Polemikk and DJ/producer PA-Double hopped behind the lens for one of the year’s most entertaining and engaging videos. And at first, it appears to center on the atmospheric track’s refrain of “I will not settle for less, I will not settle for less… than perfect.” That’s because it unfolds like a tale of a troubled young man whose life goes sideways when he goes too far pursuing his dream of more.

But the twist that arrives toward the end will likely leave you hitting the replay button to figure out exactly how everything came to a head. It’ll also provide another opportunity to listen to yet another standout tune from NEFEW, who have been releasing grounded, yet forward-thinking, Hip-Hop for nearly a decade.

American-Swiss Hip-Hop duo Nefew continue to bring the good vibes and embrace the warm weather with their slick new video for “Brand New Summer,” the jazzy and upbeat single from their recently released EP, Slides.

It may be true that the season may be on its way out here in the States, but that doesn’t mean we and Nefew can’t enjoy one last hurrah. And for one half of the duo, Polemikk, that includes doing exactly what he wants because, hey, it’s a “Brand New Summer.” That includes chilling with the girl of his dreams, stunting with his boys in the streets, and just enjoying the sunny weather while it lasts.

The self directed visuals are both colorful and high-energy, and seamlessly match the track. It’s really the foolproof complement to Nefew’s music as a whole, because the duo has become well-known over the last ten or so years for their soulful, optimistic take on innovative Hip-Hop. And if this happens to be your first time experiencing their music, you’ll certainly be searching for more once the visuals fade. “Brand New Summer” is truly a final shot of Hip-Hop sunshine as we wait for fall to creep in.
