Ohio native King Callis has been passionate about for music for awhile but decided to take it up notch once he decided to relocate to the “new Atlanta” aka Charlotte, NC. Overtime, the rapper has built up his own style while grabbing inspiration from Hip-Hop icons like Common Sense to Slum Village. The rising artist recently dropped his EP Brunch (Food For Thought) is not only showcasing his 90s style but is also letting us know why he’s not going anywhere, anytime soon. Whether you’ve read about him here on Respect, Pitchfork, or Bluntiq, Charlotte’s Rashaun Hampton is constantly on the wave of making a name for himself with his music. The Jesus Piece artist recently performed his latest self-produced single “All of That” over the weekend for the License to Rage, at the Pour House Music Hall in Raleigh NC. Of course knowing how to rap is gonna bring people to notice, but knowing how to rap and produce is a whole different type of game. Take a peep of what the Charlotte native is cooking up.

North Carolina hasn’t really had too many people represent their music scene in a big way since Petey Pablo’s “Raise Up”, which is sad because the Tar Heel State is slowly making progress. JK The Rapper and his collective FANG are from a small North Carolina town called Greensboro but they’re staying true to the pillars of classic hip-hop. With bass heavy instrumentals and a few boom bap tracks, he put together a nice project. Ill Life 2 features members of the Raider Klan, Speakz, and of course J.K.’s FANG comrades.
