Other than wanting to be a police officer, fireman or a WWE wrestler, many kids place being an astronaut high on their following your dreams bucket list!

Think about it: You’re literally in outer space and boldly going where no man has gone before. Wait, I think Star Trek: The Next Generation already took that one already!

But I digress!

Outer space life seems quite lit! NASA astronaut Clayton Anderson thinks so too. An author of The Ordinary Spaceman: From Boyhood Dreams to Astronaut and a recipient of the Tom Osborne Leadership Award, a NASA Spaceflight Medal and a NASA Exceptional Service Medal, Anderson has more than a few space missions on his resume.

Most impressive was his living and working underwater for fourteen days while serving as an aquanaut during the NEEMO 5 mission. For those keeping score at home, Anderson, along with Astronauts Peggy Whitson, Garrett Reisman and scientist Emma Hwang lived off the coast of the Florida Keys, in a submersible deep-sea habitat off the coast of the Florida Keys, called Aquarius.

Meanwhile in the galaxies and the planets, one has to wonder: what’s it like up there?

“It is way cool,” Clayton Anderson told me while appearing on Scoop B Radio. “I tell people I was Superman every day. I flew to breakfast, I flew to work, I flew to the bathroom and I flew while I was going to the bathroom.”

In all actuality though, Anderson says the closest comparison to anything on land is scuba diving.

The first trailer has been released for the upcoming movie Hidden Figures, based on the true story about three mathematicians who were instrumental in sending John Glenn into orbit in 1962.

The movie will star Taraji P. Henson as Katherine G. Johnson, Octavia Spenser as Dorothy Vaughan, and Janelle Monáe as Mary Jackson as they work at NASA fighting the gender and racial biases against them. The women being portrayed were key mathematicians and engineers in the space program, though their work had not been widely credited. According to the NY Times, the movie is to be based on the book written by Margot Lee Shetterly, who knew Ms. Johnson but didn’t know about the extent of her involvement with NASA until her father had mentioned it one day.

Donna Gigliotti offered for the rights to the book after reading Shetterly’s proposal and offered her reasoning for doing so:

For Ms. Gigliotti, the “Hidden Figures” story line had everything and more: the Cold War, the space race, the damages of segregation and racial and gender inequality, all set against the country’s burgeoning civil rights struggles.

The movie is set to be released January 13, 2017, and the trailer is available to watch below.
