Swizzysworld, formally known as Muqbil Yabarow, is a Washington DC based creative photographer. Known to turn traditional monuments into unorthodox images, his versatility as a photographer has given him opportunities working alongside brands such as The Washington Post, Amazon and Forbes, and an engaged audience of over 90,000 followers on Instagram.

Now, he’s currently working on an seemingly interesting project pertaining to his journey as a Muslim urban photographer during the holy pilgrimage “Hajj” – something he believes will produce a deeper insight for this ritual, and the varying experiences derived from it.

Swizzy made this trip in 2017 and captured photos of what he thought told the greatest stories of this journey. Some stories were told on the face of people. Others, on the sights of the masses. Fast forward to 2019, and he is now working on sharing these through a compiled body of work.

“I wanted to create this project because this experience is something most Muslims have not experienced in their lifetime. In fact, non Muslims are not permitted to be in the city of Mecca as well – so this project really sheds light to many of my non Muslims friends/followers that were really inquisitive about my experience.”
