For the most part Chance The Rapper is a positive high-energy dude. But tracks like “Long Time II,” “Acid Rain,” and his line on Lorine Chia‘s “Living In Vain” “I’m on the edge, thinking of falling, while dreaming of falling” shed light on a different side of him (he is human after all). So it’s not surprising that Chance is starring in the Colin Tilley-directed short film Mr. Happy. The almost 24-minute short explores the dynamics of depression and suicide by following the life of Victor, played by Chance The Rapper.

Victor is struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, but he is reluctant to end his life.  Victor then enlists someone named Mr. Happy to do it for him, but soon regrets his decision. Even though the film may be graphic at times, the key take aways from this short is that although suicide may seem like the only escape, things will get better; and be careful what you wish for because it may very well happen. Watch the introspective film below, but pleased be advised that it contains graphic and violent content.
