It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from them, but the much-heralded duo of Pacewon and Mr. Green are back at it with “Massacre,” a bruising new single featuring Bronx spitter Chris Rivers (Big Pun’s son).

After dropping two acclaimed releases—2008’s The Only Color That Matters is Green and 2012’s The Only Number That Matters is Won—the New Jersey-hailing emcee and producer are back together and sounding as good as ever. And they couldn’t have picked a better title for their new track than “Massacre,” because it’s a well-placed punch to the throat of any wack artists listening to it.

Pacewon leads the charge over the slapping production from Mr. Green, who blends and manipulates layers of samples on top of one another. It’s a fitting setting for his tag-team partner, who raps about choking trash rappers and hanging them from his rear-view. The same goes for Rivers, who bodies the beat with references to Super Smash Bros. and King Arthur in addition to a variety of flows.

What “Massacre” boils down to is a raw Hip-Hop showcase, with Pace and Green demonstrating that their chemistry is alive and well. The ridiculously talented Mr. Green is behind the boards and sitting in the director’s chair for his gritty new single, “Power,” off the upcoming Raw Poetix compilation, Global Connection Vol. 2. The track also boasts some sharp visuals starring Connecticut rap bully Blacastan, who goes all the way in on this Boom bap slapper.

Backed by the neck-breaking instrumental, Blacastan drops a slew of run-it-back quotables (for example: “In the hood I’m everywhere, like images of Jesus/ Reflections of Moses movin’ in slaves’ clothing”) while commanding the camera’s attention. And Mr. Green is right on point with his direction, capturing the energy of his rapping partner’s bars before handing the footage over Shane McLellan to provide the psychedelic finishing touches.

The aforementioned international connection is brought by Denmark-based turntablist DJ FMD, who kills it on the track’s hook and outro. Fittingly, “Power” sets the tone for the compilation, which features the likes of PaceWon, Phil The Agony, Kool G. Rap, Chris Rivers, and Planet Asia.

While you can watch the “Power” video now courtesy of RESPECT., the Global Connection Vol. 2 compilation is set to drop Sept. 6 via Raw Poetix Records.

For this episode we went to Rittenhouse Square in Philly where we bumped into Kevin Brown. Kevin is a veteran street performer that has earned his stripes traveling across the country via freight train. He played us an original song and then told us a couple stories from the road. After that we went back to the lab and made a beat out of a piece of Kevin‘s song. Finally, we got Malik B from the Roots to spit a verse on the beat.
This is a special song because it’s the first time Malik B has ever been in a solo music video
