Mike Melinoe has been on a bit of a roll since releasing his music video for “Addict Venture” back in late April. It’s now time for new ventures within his creative space. Today, Melinoe grabs Hawthrone, California artist DC for “Suicide B4 29.” The song is a demanding effort from the Detroit native. It’s a far cry from his single “Addict Venture,” and that is being said in a good way. Melinoe challenges himself on this one, showing a reckless yet controlled approach to the song. For an artist like DC, it’s left field-hit indeed, but he finds a comfortable pocket and emotion to convey on this one.

The track is produced by Dayggs and he does an impressive job of putting together the production. The production calls for reckless intentions and broad voices over top of the beat. For sure, Melinoe and DC did just that. It is the first time these two have linked up for a collaboration, but’s surely not going to be the last.

Premiered by Noisey last week, Detroit artist Mike Melinoe delivers a new music video for his track, “Addict Venture.” The track was written while Melinoe was under the influence of Xanax and syrup, but that’s not to take away from the value he brings forth.

“Yeah, “Addict Venture” is about drugs, but I’m talking about hip-hop,” Melinoe said.

The song is set to appear on Mike’s forthcoming ‘Caveman’ EP, which doesn’t have a release date yet, but will arrive sometime this summer.

What Mike excels at during Addict Venture is challenging himself. Yes, he’s off a ton of drugs, still he fights to keep the substance intact for the listener.

The song is produced by Niles Mack and the music video takes direction from 17-year old Ciara Boneface. As the summertime ranges closer, we can expect more material to come from Mike Melinoe.

It was a time in Mike’s artistic output that he wanted to be clean again, free of the drug rush. It will be interesting to see what the rest of his EP ‘Caveman’ holds for us over the summer.
