Chicago’s DJ Rosskid has been grinding for a decade, having DJ’d for a variety of artists — some of whom are now the biggest in the game. Now, Rosskid — the first and youngest DJ from Chicago to be apart of Island Def Jam Music Group DJ pool since the merge of Island Records and Def Jam Recordings — is expanding as a producer.

Today, we’re excited to deliver a new track (and the first official single) from Rosskid titled “Lust & Desire,” which features the Bronx’s own Mickey Factz and Chicago’s own J Lyn. Check it out below.

Cypher Clique is a 3 man hip hop group coming out of Dover, Delaware. Originally formed in 2007, the group consisted of eight members.  Over the past ten years, they have been releasing material online and touring independently – opening up for Mac Miller, Meek Mill, Dom Kennedy, Tory Lanez, Diggy Simmon, A$AP Rocky, Pac Div, Action Bronson and more. 

The hip hop trio offer up a new single featuring Mickey Factz. “Reality Only,” produced by the Clique’s, James Major, opens up with piano chords laid out over a relaxed, boom bap instrumental. Realy and Mic Anthony flow effortlessly over the light production that’s a breath of fresh air in today’s Hip Hop climate.

Florida’s Brian Breach – perhaps you’re just hearing about him. Or you’ve heard his “Breakfast” single alongside Chris Rivers not long ago, which lead us into his latest body of work, Matter of Fact. If this is your introduction to him, or even George Young and Bronx’s Mickey Factz, welcome to their world, presented properly here in the first look at their new visual demonstration. They’re names to know in 2016 if you enjoy quality hip-hop music. New, quality hip-hop music. Sure, there is a lot of underwhelming stuff on this earth currently. Contemporary rap music is a robust discussion that we will save for another piece. But if you’ve been resting under a rock or out of the loop, there’s artist like Brian and Mickey who restore faith and hope for listeners that authenticity is still available – you just have to listen.

It was our pleasure to bring you the audio version of “One Step Closer” less than a month ago, as Brian rolled out his singles for us to pick up and get a taste at what was to come with Matter of Fact. Well, it’s finally available. Maybe after the new visual above, and a better understanding of the potent offerings he has given us you will check it out. Or not – it’s ultimately your loss. Simply put, if you’re into technical, respectably flexible emcees over rich production choices it’s for you. Oh and pertinent subject matter if you’re into substantial lyrics. We all love a little bit of substance right? Put the lean down for a moment and dive into some introspection.

The new video is thematically simple, visiting the important and reoccurring issue of bogus contracts from record labels. More specifically, the video finds Brian declining the classic “360 deal” that most of us learned about directly from music itself over the years. It’s been mentioned often by a generous amount of artists and can easily be searched if you care to learn more about the dangers and nonsense of those deals. It was displayed clear and beautifully here. Running headfirst through fear, spearheading uncomfortability, and staying true to self. In a sense, we’re all in the same playing field – some more difficult than others. Unfortunately, or fortunately, true-school emcees actually saying something today have to work double time. So, the visual demonstration here is real. It’s very real. We hope you enjoy, peace and love!

“One Step Closer” is a passionate mission statement from Florida rapper Brian Breach, who makes it clear that his artistry, and what he puts into his music is his top priority. It also features a stellar guest feature from Bronx spitter Mickey Factz, who delivers equally contemplative bars about what it means to be an artist in today’s indie music universe.

The track stems from Breach’s recently released LP, Matter of Fact, which includes other standout joints like “Breakfast,” featuring Chris Rivers. But it’s “One Step Closer” that perfectly captures Breach and his approach to his craft. Beneath the slick bravado and super-sharp technical skills, he’s a man trying to make it on his own terms doing what he loves. As he sing-songs on the infectious chorus, “I got this Biggie song stuck in my head/ Turn my negative to positive/ And every day I’m getting closer…”

The track is produced by George Young, who provides a soaring instrumental that precisely complements Breach and Factz’ raps. Backed by Young’s melodic vocal sample and layer of guitars, you’ll hear both emcees doing what they do best; dropping bars with reckless abandon.
