Music is definitely the vice that is going to carry us through the troubling times of 2020. Here is some new flavor from an up-and-coming artist, London McKoy, who’s new single “Sometimes” addresses some of our current mental stresses with a harmony that is perfect for your RnB therapy!

Who is London McKoy you may ask? She is an eclectic singer who is the first lady of the musical label and collective artist called Blck Mrcy (pronounced Black Mercy) who has given us some fresh tunes to pull us closer to summer 2020.

She is also a part of DJ Duo The Don Dadas. Her Co-DJ Lola Benjamin, who is a legacy DJ, have combined forces not only to make sure our Friday nights are lit but to also tackle mental health with their event Press Play Namaste. This event is a different take on your typical yoga class. It includes a live DJ taking you away from the traditional yoga sounds and taking you anywhere from “A Tribe Called Quest” to “Dip set” while you’re working on your warrior one pose!

`London first caught my eye years a ago with her Single Bittersweet and her growth as an artist definitely shines though on her new single “Sometimes.” You can find out more London and Lola who was a guest on the “House of Boom” Podcast below.

Danny Boronico, owner of Athena Fight Club in Boca Raton, Florida, has been around the fitness industry for close to 30 plus years, also owning one of the most successful independent gyms, Bell Plaza Health Club in Queens, NY.

So what could possibly be left for Danny to accomplish? Knocking out depression, anxiety and stress one punch at at time is an answer you might get, or he may give some literature to read with his book No More Bad Days. Athena’s gym is a women’s and children’s gym that offers 3 segmented courses, first starting off with 15-minute mind motivation blocks before moving on to the physical fitness portion of the workout.

Below, Danny speaks on what inspired him to create the new but needed fitness platform:

I was once invited to an AA meeting by a friend, I initially declined but then decided to join him. After leaving the meeting it opened my eye to how many people truly needed the space to release themselves from anxiety stress, depression and more so, why not integrate into fitness.

Danny also knows from a personal standpoint, having battled some parts of depression in the in-between period of the success of his two health clubs; he experienced a few seasons in life which led him to a dried up bank account, trying to figure out what’s next.

Knowing what it is like to be in that mental space, and with time and being tested, Danny has found that women are more responsive to his method, which is why Athena Gym caters to women knowing they will leave the environment less stressed and equipped to defend themselves by learning real boxing skills.

Check out more info about the gym here.

Next month will mark a year that U.S. President Donald Trump won the 2016 Presidential election. NBA legend Metta World Peace has been vocal about current U.S. President Donald Trump since he’s entered office.

Appearing on Scoop B Radio, World Peace said that if he were the ruler of the free world for a day, he’d institute a simple solution that would unite Trump voters and African Americans.. “I think that I would probably just focus on science,” Metta World Peace told me on Scoop B Radio.

“Let everyone else focus on people who won’t get along. But just focus on education and science and that’ll handle everything.”

During last years Election World Peace started a social media binge on Twitter by tweeting the hashtag #ifmettawaspresident, which were decisions he would make if he became president.

The tweets were deleted but stuff like this are comical.

In September, the former Los Angeles Lakers forward told TMZ that President Trump needs to ignore NFL protests and refocus on stopping the violence in Chicago. World Peace also told TMZ that Trump has forgotten the promise he made to clean up Chicago after labeling the violent crime situation an “epidemic” back in June.

World Peace is also an advocate for mental health. While on Scoop B Radio, he stressed that mental health is often ignored. “Mental health is important in all communities,” World Peace told me.

“It’s important to be able to feel comfortable to come out and say you have an issue. And that’s why I’m an advocate, because I feel like if you have an issue you should be able to come out and say that.”
