Meagan Good will star in a remake of the 1974 film, Foxy Brown.  Foxy Brown is headed to television with a TV series adaptation and will be executive produced by Good’s husband DeVon Franklin and Tony Krantz, the TV series has landed at Hulu for development. MGM TV is the studio, according Deadline. Malcolm Spellman, co-executive producer of Empire, and Hand of God creator Ben Watkins will assist in the success of the series in developing the script.

The 1974 Blaxploitation classic, written and directed by Jack Hill, followed Foxy Brown played by Pam Grier as she sought revenge for the murder of her boyfriend by a drug syndicate. The film, which was a box-office success, has had a lasting legacy, influencing a number of movies over the past four decades. The original film was distributed by American International Pictures whose library is now owned by MGM subsidiary Orion Pictures Corporation, leading to MGM TV’s role as producer on the series.

The influence of the movie and the character has been great in pop culture, including the Urban Legend series. Beyoncé channeled Foxy Brown when she played the role of Foxxy Cleopatra in 2002’s Austin Powers Goldmember movie. Brooklyn bred-rapper Foxy Brown clearly took to the role Grier made famous and used it for her rap moniker.

It has been more than 40 years since Foxy Brown was released to theaters, the film continues to influence the hip-hop culture while empowering  strong, independent African-American woman.

Meagan Good  will also serve as a producer on the show under her husband’s production company Franklin Entertainment.

Fragrance company 1st Femme hosted a star-studded Launch Event to celebrate their new signature fragrance and unveil popular music artist and actress La’Myia Good as their new Global Brand Ambassador. The pre-Grammy’s affair took place at the swanky London Hotel on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. Celebrity guests in attendance included Meagan Good, CeeLo Green, DeVon Franklin, Eric Bellinger, Sundy Carter, twins Mark Harris and Matt Harris (Storage Wars), Safaree, Tyran Brown, KD Aubert, Jason Lee, Power 106 FM’s Yesi Ortiz, EJ King (BET’s About the Business), Jessica Rich, Porscha Coleman, Zena Foster and more.

The invitation only event also celebrated the launch of 1st Femme’s “Our Year All Year” women’s empowerment campaign created by company Founder Cindy Nkem Siren. Guests enjoyed fragrance sampling, delectable desserts, an open bar, and the evening’s soundtrack curated by DJ Looney.
