DJ Khaled tracks are an interesting commodity in hip hop today. While Khaled may slightly alienate himself by sticking to his usual group of go-to artists (Lil’ Wayne, Rick Ross, Future, etc.), but with the truly exhausting amount of time he puts into promoting himself and his songs, he is by every definition a bonafide hit-maker. With the exceptions of a few Mavado tracks that probably should have stayed locked away in the vault, with the help of his super-star roster, almost every single he has released has garnered an impressive amount of success and remixes from admiring artists as a result.

While “How Many Times” is surely no “Bugatti”, it offers a few hidden treasures on-top of being another skillfully crafted and well-executed club song. Lil’ Wayne’s verse is not only better than average, giving hope this return to form will be evident in The Carter 5, whenever that’s released, but Chris Brown also, delivers a surprisingly strong and aggressive verse along with a sold chorus to match. Brown has clearly been working on his rap game on the side and it’s starting to leak through into his music. No complaints here! We The Best signee Mavado releases a new single in “I Ain’t Going Back Broke.” Future and fellow WTB label mate Ace Hood join the Kingston, Jamaica native, assisting with the hook and a guest verse, respectively.

Over the cinematic production, he tells his story of rags to riches and promises to never go back to the days of being broke. Future croons the hook, but Mavado assists with backing vocals, resulting in the track’s most memorable part. Hood contributes with a strong sixteen, where he raps about taking care of his mother and daughter, making it through the struggle and focusing his attention on the money.

This new release marks Mavado’s return to music after a short hiatus. It’s a solid way for him to start off the new year. Take a listen to “I Ain’t Going Back” below and stay tuned for more in the near future.
