Hell’s Kitchen native and lyricist, Marlon Craft has released the latest video for his ”Family” single. As this single appears on his debut studio album, Funhouse Mirror, Craft gives his fans a tender and wholesome visual to accompany an already incredible record.

Produced by Arbus Beats this song is an open letter to his family, thanking each person for their contribution to his life. Learning from his jazz percussionist father with music in common; eluding to struggles with his teacher mother, Christine and trying to be a big brother for his sister Mia, Marlon opens the door into his upbringing. As his family is one of the most important things to him in life, he continues the family theme, Marlon enlisted some of his biggest fans to star alongside him in this visual.

The 26 year old rapper had a breakout summer since the launch of Funhouse Mirror on June 18th which hit the charts at number 23 for Rap Album Sales, #number 30, R&B/Hip Hop Sales and number 9 on Heatseekers. After partnering with the Halal Guys to launch his album at their original cart location on 53rd Street & 6th Ave, his influence has only grown by the numbers.

The balance of family and fans makes the visual a true one of a kind. You feel nothing but love and light from the beginning to the end. As Marlon Craft reminds his audience of how important it is to pay homage to everyone who helped you get to where you are in life, his talent is soaring brighter than ever. Also, off the album, Craft released the controversial song and video addressing America’s institutional racism in “Gang Shit,” produced by Arbus Beats. The provocative song generates conversation around the brand of problematic gang mentality, groupthink and how toxic masculinity manifests itself. The visual, directed by Nathan R. Smith (2 Chainz, T.I., Joey Bada$$, Mick Jenkins) uses poignant imagery of the police and the KKK as some of America’s gangs. Rapper T.I. stated the video was “powerful” while  Killer Mike supported Craft in calling him an “ally.” Even activist, Shaun King chimed in on the discussion surrounding the video.

The 26 year old started 2019 strong with WORKWEEK, a series of public events held throughout NYC focusing on social issues within the justice system, the mental health system and the education system. Marlon continues to lead with his pen and technical ability, weaving advanced wordplay in a multitude of deliveries. His music is driven at awakening listeners with punch lines and motivational bars. “Shallow relishes in the ‘turn-up’ with that little bit of guilt underneath, always tugging at you. I had an open verse in the song and once it was finished, I knew Dizzy would be perfect for it. His flow and sound were such a dope fit musically but also knowing him as an intelligent, insightful, and mature dude – that also likes to party.
