24-year-old Washington artist MariBased1 is the next generation of Seattle music. MariBased1 has been around music since the day he was born in the mid 90’s. He gets his name from paying homage to rapper Lil B, he took the first part of his name Mari then added the Based to it to combine both them together then adding 1 to equation. MariBased1 to come together naturally because he feels he is the 1.

MariBased1 originates from the northwest out the inner city of Seattle, Wash. Maribased1 currently has a video in rotation nationwide on BETJAMS called “Bouncin’.” The fresh single is also rotating in Footlocker & Champs retail stores nationwide. With the early accolades he is collecting he has performed on tour with platinum artist BlueFace, Lil Mosey & Rod Vicious of Shoreline Mafia just to name a few.

Currently he is working on full length album,  Mariotto2 which expected to be released in 2020. He feels it would be a sin for the world to go unexposed to the original style of music he likes to call the Northern Flow.

RESPECT.: We know that Seattle has their own indie music scene, what was the sound like for you growing up and how did it mold you into the artist you are?

MariBased1: The Northern Flow and original style of rap for me growing up in the inner city community societies baby. i’ve always been around the local music scene all my life. My dad and older cousins were one of the original local Seattle hip hop artist from Mr. Benjamin 2008, Crafty to Nutcase the list can go on. Hearing it and being around it all my life it came second nature to me. I just took what I already knew and put my own twist on it Boom! now you got MariBased1 the next generation new era of Seattle hip hop.

RESPECT.: Who are a few of your musical influences?

MariBased1: Some of my musical influences are The Temptations, Lil Wayne, Micheal Jackson, T.Pain, Soulja Boy, Lil the Basedgod Mr Benjamin 2008 just to name a few.

RESPECT.: You dropped a single “Bouncin” that is taking over the west coast , what sound are you creating?

MariBased1: My Sound is called the ‘Northern Flow’. The Northern Flow consist of being original, having full control of your creativity and simply just being yourself and not trying to sound like nobody else. [Different]

RESPECT.: What’s the difference of being an artist and the entertainer in front of fans?

MariBased1: The difference between being an artist and entertainer is the artist provides the music and the creativity. The entertainer puts on a show controls the audience and reenacts the music.

RESPECT.: Who are your top 5 favorite performers?

MariBased1: I don’t have a top 5 favorite but Michael Jackson was one hell of a performer tho I like how MJ had capivated his audience n fans like put them in a trance hypnotize them in so many words he really knew how to put on a great performance.

RESPECT.: Any upcoming projects that we should look from you?

MariBased1: I am dropping my full length album called ‘Mariotto2’. RESPECT.: What do you think is the most important life decision to make committing to your aspirations ?

MariBased1: The most important life decision to make committing to my aspirations is being able to be comfortable with making sacrifices. What I mean by making sacrifices is being able to let something go for insistence if u have a job u have to be will to quit an give 100 percent of you to make your dreams come true. Seattle music is as real as it gets, believe that.
