The Museum of Light presents The Light Tuesdays an inspirational online exhibition. The series will include .30 second video interviews and original 2D artwork. The Light documentary, which explores the alchemy of the artists’s journey, is being directed by award-winning filmmaker Joslyn Rose Lyons with music journalist Billy Johnson Jr. producing. The online exhibition is being curated by The Light producers in collaboration with Rafael Casal and Blended Creatives.

In their individual The Light Tuesdays videos, each artist will discuss their purpose as it relates to encouraging and motivating their audience. The rollout includes newsletter blasts, Instagram videos, and quotes ready for sharing online.

The Light Tuesdays kicks off with Mali Music, who explains that part of his purpose is to inspire his listeners to be leaders. Mali’s 2014 album Mali Is … was nominated for the Best Urban Contemporary Album, competing against releases from Beyoncé, Pharrell, Chris Brown, and Jhene Aiko. A new The Light Tuesdays artist will be unveiled each week.

“There’s an over saturation of salacious media coverage on the Internet. The intent of this project is to add more positive affirmations into the mix,” Johnson says. “The artists we have interviewed for The Light thus far have shared with us the philosophies of their triumphs and we know people will be blessed when they hear these stories. This is just a taste of what’s to come.”

Lately there’s been some anticipation surrounding the iconic Spike Lee and his new satirical film entitled Chiraq. Not only is the project something that we are definitely looking forward to, but we’re also just as anxious for the fire soundtrack accompanying the film. Although there’s plenty of dope singles and contributions to the soundtrack (which will we dropping December 4th), Mali Music and Jhene Aiko are serving us something a little bit special and unpredictable for the project. The Arizona based gospel/hip-hop artist and the soulful Jhene serve as a duet while giving us Reggae vibes with their new single “Contradiction”. Definitely a collaboration we didn’t see coming, but nonetheless a single that we are appreciative for. Peep the heat and a a short clip from the Spike Lee joint below.
