Over The Influence is all about experiencing different heights of emotions. It is the perfect euphoria where questions like “what is reality?” and “what is fantasy?” is irrelevant. It blurs the boundaries of mixing different substances together, The raw emotions and story telling through the entire project is consistent.

Taking time out of her busy schedule, Mack takes a break to sit down with RESPECT. Mag for a short interview That you can read below. As for her sultry project stream it above and look out for her in the future. Over The Influence was executively produced by Gavin Bradley with additional production from Mack, LEF7Y and Kaz Matic.

RESPECT.: What was the process that went behind this project?

Lots of writing and experimenting. Spent a lot of time in the studio with Lef7y and Gavin playing around with sounds. I had a catalog of demos going, and I basically narrowed down the tracks that best described my experiences in the past two years: Leaving school to pursue music, and my mental state and relationships during that time. I wanted everything to sound as trippy as it all felt.

RESPECT.: What are your musical influences?

I’m inspired by artists who are unapologetically themselves and really speak on how they feel, like Kanye. Creativity draws me in, regardless of the genre. I love everybody in TDE – they make fire. And I would say I grew up reciting the lyrics of outspoken females a lot: Lauren Hill, Destiny’s Child, Alanis Morisette…

RESPECT.: Is song writing as important to you as being a good singer?

Writing is what got me into music, so I’ll always put a high importance on songwriting. You hear a line and it moves you, because you can relate to the wordplay. Those are my favourite kinds of songs. Then the voice, and the style, helps to mould those emotions. I would love to write for other artists as well down the line.

RESPECT.: What kind of impression do you want the listeners to get when listening to “Over The Influence.”

I want the sounds to get you high. I want to set the mood in the room. I also want people to know I’m just writing about the human experience, through my experiences. I’m writing about the things that don’t make me perfect.
