Houston, Texas has been on fire lately with the talent pool of high quality artists. With Meg Thee Stallion leading the pack, rapper MYNamePhin is showing why Houston is popping off right now. In a joint venture with Private Club Records (MadeinTYO, 24hrs), and Rostrum Records (Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa), MyNamePhin is releasing his best music to date.

On his latest single “Mike Jones“, the Houston rapper carries out his southern swag and original cadence. Named after the famous Texas rapper Mike Jones, PHIN showcases his depth in lyrical prose, over a sick beat. Anytime a young emcee pays homage to an elder rapper, it is always a good look and humble beginnings.

To take this release to new heights, he followed it up with a dope visual courtesy of FilthyMcDave. Shot on location in H-Town, you will see Houston legend Mike Jones make a cameo. The above message by Free Nationals (who you may know through their performances with Anderson .Paak) is a great way to envision their new song “Time,” which acts as the first official posthumous record with the late Mac Miller. The track — which also features the equally-talented Kali Uchis — follows last year’s “Beauty & Essex” and speaks to time’s role in a relationship (as Mac Miller raps):

Look at me watering seeds, it’s time to grow
I get out of control when I’m alone
If you can make it with me, you can make it on your own
So quit the bulls*** and playing on my phone
We just need some time…

Germany born rapper Gaddo, has released a dope new single titled “Nexx”. As someone who has been working in the music business since the age of 16, his talents are taking him to new heights. He has crafted up an original sound that makes him truly unique as an MC.

On this release, you will hear Gaddo rapping about wanting more over less as he is up “nexx” to blow. The most impressive thing about this artist is his unique story telling ability. He does an excellent job of letting his fans know how hard he is working to ensure that his end result is success in abundance.

The Bone Collector produced beat meshes perfectly with this MC’s vocals. Some lyrics that stand out are “I’m still here battling demons that I just can’t seem to get off of my back”. His rawness and honesty flourishes on this record and show his diversity as an artist.

Having opened up for the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller and Logic, Gaddo is on the path toward stardom. He plans to continue putting out his best music today and wants fans to know that this is only the beginning.

The Hip-Hop community is still reeling from Mac Miller‘s unfortunate passing. While very bittersweet, the Pittsburgh emcee left behind a plethora of beautiful music for everyone to enjoy; now, Spotify sort of adds to that with a couple of live audio recordings.

Mac Miller’s Family Announces Tribute Concert

Mac Miller‘s sudden passing was definitely one of the lowest points for Hip-Hop culture (and music, period). Moving forward, the late artist’s family has announced ‘A Celebration Of Life” concert that will take place in Los Angeles and will benefit the Mac Miller Circles Fund.

The line-up is full of Mac’s friends, collaborators and close peers in music: ScHoolboy Q, Anderson .Paak, Travis Scott, Chance The Rapper, SZA, Thundercat, Action Bronson, Vince Staples, Miguel, Ty Dolla $ign, J.I.D0 and many more will take to the stage in tribute.

It all goes down at The Greek Theatre October 31st. You can find tickets here. The flyer can be seen below.
