There is no doubt that the Compton emcee inspires many rising artists, and youngsters in general, aiming to make their dreams a reality.

What makes Kendrick Lamar stand out from the crowd is that he never fails to involve others in his musical journey, as he reaches out to talented individuals, even going as far to vibe with them on stage.

This time, Kendrick paid a visit to New Jersey’s High Tech High School, after hearing that the school was planning reflective lessons, based on the quality production: To Pimp A Butterfly. Honoured by the way that essays and poetry evolved from this; what better way to show appreciation than to surprise the exact students admiring his work.

Documenting the occasion; we see the m.A.A.d city artist offering advice, support, and of course hitting the mic, to make the work come alive.

In the words of Kendrick:

“Something even — for me — even bigger than mentoring is really listening. And when I do that, we have a little bit bigger connection than me being Kendrick Lamar and you being a student. It’s almost like we’re friends, you know? Because a friend listens and we learn off each others’ experiences.”
