Following his Tru EP in 2016, R&B veteran Lloyd is back with a full play of the same name, his first official album since 2011’s King Of Hearts (yep, it’s been that long). This go ’round, the NOLA-to-ATL star delivers <del datetime="2018-09-07T00:56:53+00:00">11</del> 7 new tracks and additional appearances from Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Khujo Goodie, Sevyn Streeter, River and the Spelman Women’s Choir. He also explains the project via social media:

Three things cannot be hidden for long: The Sun, The Moon, and the Truth. No matter how much you try to hide, the truth must come to light. Embrace it. Bask in it. Let it lead your identity. Truth is, you can only love another as much as you love yourself. And by being real with yourself at all times, you will find a supreme clarity and become surrounded Less and less by things that drag you down and uplifted more and more by Love and Honesty.

If anyone has been wondering where singer Lloyd has been, he’s been busy growing back his hair, learning to play the guitar, signing a new label deal, getting his GED, and recording new music for his upcoming EP. Lloyd seems to have a pattern of taking a break from music after an album release and coming back with a banger. Despite his disappearance from the music scene since his 2011 album release King of Hearts, clearly the man has been keeping himself busy.

The former Murder Inc. artist took a five year hiatus from music to spend some much needed time with his family and experience personal growth as a man. Lloyd made the right choice in taking this hiatus because now he is back with his most honest single to date “Tru.” In the single, the R&B crooner mentions losing a child he looked forward to having, separating himself from certain people and certain habits, and learning how to be less prideful and more vulnerable.

In an interview with V-103 Atlanta, Lloyd explains that the inspiration for “Tru” came from learning that his younger brother was battling depression and contemplating suicide. Of course, depression and other mental health disorders are serious issues when it comes to African-Americans. Due to lack of resources and lack of support, many African-Americans suffering from mental health disorders feel forced to suppress their feelings. As a result from witnessing a loved one’s triumph, Lloyd is able to speak on real life experiences and at the same time give the fans exactly what they’ve been waiting for.

According to Elhae, he’s currently working on a new project, but will be dropping tracks in between now and then. No word on when the project will drop, so in the meantime check out “A.N.O” below to hold you over until then.

DJ Drama’s new album is a week away from dropping but that doesn’t stop the music from coming. On Shade 45’s Toca Tuesdays he debuted the track “My Way” which features Common, Kendrick Lamar, and Lloyd. The names on this track is enough to take a listen. Add to the fact that Hit-Boy produced it; you can’t go wrong. Sorry for the radio rip but you get the gist. Take a listen below.
