Live Nation Urban & The Roots team up to present the thirteenth annual “Roots Picnic” which will ne he== Saturday, May 30, 2020 in Philadelphia, PA. This year the Picnic will take place at the Mann at Fairmount Park, for the second consecutive year.

Celebrating its thirteenth-year anniversary, the festival grounds will include 3 stages of music, gaming, art and dialogue. “Roots Picnic” continues to align with music and culture and remains known for careful curation that unites music’s hottest acts, influencers, tastemakers, and thought leaders for one unforgettable day—and this year proudly continues that tradition.

This year the festival will feature performances from Philadelphia’s own Meek Mill, as well as Summer Walker, DaBaby, Snoh Aalegra, Burna Boy, Thundercat and many more. There will be heavy emphasis on collaboration and creativity as The Roots present a curated set celebrating R&B Music, titled The Roots Present SOUL, with special guests Brandy, SWV and Musiq Soulchild who’s celebrating the 20^th anniversary of his seminal album Aijuswanaseing. Additionally, an annual highlight Black Thought and J Period’s “Live Mixtape” will feature breakout Buffalo based rappers Griselda, as well as Wu Tang Clan members Ghostface and Raekwon. Another curation will feature Meshell Ndegeocello: Reimagining Prince and This Thing Called Life. The live podcast experience returns and will include episodes of Around the Way Curls Podcast, The Read and Questlove Supreme as well as CRWN with Elliott Wilson.

“Always a highlight of the year, The Roots Picnic continues to grow and solidify itself as a cornerstone of Philadelphia culture”, says Shawn Gee, President of Live Nation Urban and Roots manager and co-founder of the event. “This year we are presenting a few special collaborative sets, one specifically with the Roots celebrating R&B music, with some legendary artists. Personally, I am excited that Meek Mill will grace the Roots Picnic stage this year, as this is the only major event in our hometown that he hasn’t played yet. We are also excited to be back at the Mann Center in Fairmount Park and looking forward to another great year”.

Chance The Rapper Launching Chicago Festival

Chance The Rapper is heading towards new directions, paving a way for the youth and making attempts to promote positivity in the community. While he could be focusing on his own personal journey in the music world, Chance is actually applying attention to innovative events that widen horizons and support others along the way.

This is certainly an inspirational move in the industry, as he is keen to step away from his current zone and reach many individuals with diverse interests.

Reflecting just that, the free, Teens In The Park festival will be taking place June 24th at Northerly Island, Chicago, intertwining a wide variety of activities such as arts, crafts, fashion design, and break dancing to name a few.

Chris Brown Announces “One Hell Of A Nite” Tour with Kid Ink, Fetty Wap & more

Following the highly publicized Between The Sheets tour, Breezy has a new direction in mind, one which unexpectedly involves talented acquaintances including Kid Ink, Fetty Wap, Omarion and Teyana Taylor.

The One Hell Of A Nite tour kicks off this summer, August 12th in Kansas City and is expected to heat up the streets, through various states, before wrapping up September 19th in California. With the diverse line up arranged and dates set in place, this is certainly going to be a night to remember; Breezy style.

Tickets will be available June 12th as confirmed by Live Nation, so be sure to cop yours in advance, and stay locked for further updates as they evolve.

News: Frank Ocean Tears Vocal Cord, Cancels Australian Tour

Frank Ocean has torn his vocal cord, forcing him to cancel his Australian Tour. In a press statement, promoter Live Nation explained:

“After last night’s concert… it was necessary to seek medical advice due to vocal issues Frank Ocean experienced during the show. It has subsequently been confirmed that Frank has suffered a small tear to one of his vocal cords and has received medical advice that he must rest his voice.”

On Thursday, during his opening night performance, Ocean was off key. He openly told the crowd that it was due to illness. This probably means that the audio to his Versace Remix isn’t coming anytime soon. Rest well, Frank.
