<p>German street artist <a href="http://www.megx.de/#1"><strong>MegX</strong></a> spent four weeks transforming a once mundane traffic hot spot into a lively, lurid, lego land. Using only a Genie and a dream, MegX, under the commission of the local municipality, painted the entire ole Wuppertal Bridge, originally used a train line overpass, in lego-likeness hoping to add some playful color to the commute of cyclists and motorists alike. While the news is getting to us late in the U.S, german commuters have been enjoying their super sized lego&#8217;s since October and it is to be assumed that this street artist has made a permanent mark on the new Wuppertal Bridge. As one can see, the piece is very simple in nature, but what the structure lacks in complexity it makes up for in pristine execution and flawless design.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" data-attachment-id="40150" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2012/07/street-artist-megx-turns-bridge-in-lego-land/lego-new-640x960/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/lego-new-640x960.jpg?fit=640%2C960&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="640,960" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" data-image-title="lego-new-640&amp;#215;960" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/lego-new-640x960.jpg?fit=640%2C960&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/lego-new-640x960.jpg?fit=640%2C960&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-40150" title="lego-new-640x960" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/lego-new-640x960.jpg?resize=640%2C960" alt="" width="640" height="960" data-recalc-dims="1" /></p>
<p>The piece comes on the heels of similar lego inspired works from Lego animals at the Bronx Zoo to the first Lego Green House, but the effort is none the less appreciated; The world is getting a big ole dose of “legos on steroids,” and we definitely want more!</p>

The primary medium for my work is LEGO® plastic bricks, something familiar to many of us from childhood yet which I have found has infinite artistic possibilities as well.  In my current work, which is the focus of my new exhibition, I confound many of the expectations people may have when they consider my medium, exploring a sense of being trapped, haunted by the human spirit in my art yet constantly faced with the commercialism of the medium I have chosen to work in. The idea is to present something that makes people take a step back, perhaps even something that is quite scary, yet to do so in a way that captivates and intrigues. I find the balance there through the exercise of my own sensitivity, which I infuse into my sculptures, and which continues to have enduring importance in my method and results. The work I am presenting now reflects the truth about myself, on a number of levels, and as such the show is truly different to anything seen before. It’s complex, thought-provoking, and unforgettable</span></span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">.&#8221;</span></strong></em></div>
