The West Coast is back, officially. Sure, there have been artists from California who have been holding down the west for years, but the coast is bigger than that. With great music starting to come from places like Arizona, Colorado & even Oregon, the whole Coast has begun to join in on the fun. Hailing from Eastside Las Vegas, rising rapper Leanin Lo turns in his brilliant new album, 4 The Low.

Boasting an all-star cast of features which include the likes of Larry June, Z Money & ALLBLACK, as well as Grammy nominated artists Mozzy, Garren, King Vay & Kacey Khaliel, 4 The Low is an aggressively charged, bass-driven project that is wildly enjoyable. At 20-tracks, the album may seem a bit bloated at first, but within the listen, it’s not as long as advertised. At only 1 hour long, the jam-packed album is a great listen for when you’re getting ready to go to war, or if you just want some new potent rap.

Check out the album below and get familiar with Leanin Lo.

Larry June is fresh-off his hiatus as he gets ready to apply fourth quarter pressure. His first push is the release of his latest track “Back Rappin’,” produced by The Free Minded in-house producer DVME.

The 26 year-old Bay Area rapper has been growing his fan base across the internet, thanks to two EP projects earlier this year (Larry 2 EP and 4 Deep). Lately, the rap game has been slowing down, but Larry is ready to make the trap jump with his smooth lyrics and signature ay-ay adlibs:

I been trapping, rap been slow
Trap been popping
Rap been slow
Blue ‘hunnits, going through the pain
I don’t wanna sell d***, but this all a n**** know

Chose up, b**** we can win
N**** fell off but I bounced back again
Smoking weed , sipping on Henn
B**** you want a square n**** hoe but I’m not him

Take a few minutes to enjoy a fresh cup of Orange Juice with Larry June; check out his latest record “Back Rappin” above.

Independent artists keep music exciting & always remind us that there is so much talent in the world. Nowadays it is easy to get swamped with all the mainstream music that is out & you often forget to take time out to discover some new sounds that’s where Unsigned Spotlight comes in. Sundays at Respect Magazine will now be dedicated to giving Unsigned artists the spotlight & showcasing their talents. These artists will come from all over the country & have various backgrounds but all their music will be unique in a way as they pave the way for the next wave of music. Enjoy!

1. Tray Pizzy – (@TrayPizzy)

Tray Pizzy comes out of the Bronx with a charged up sound & quality lyricism. The NY spitter gives us street grit but also shows his ability to put together a more mainstream single. His Bronx influence is clear in his music but his ability to handle flows & different types of production show that he’s in a class of his own. Get in tune with Tray Pizzy here.

– What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?

I just wanna finish my next project and get that out to the people as soon as possible.

– What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?

I don’t even think I have a message. I’m just giving my life and hoping people find it interesting.

– How would you describe your own sound?

Growing. My sound is not regionalized but you can still tell where I’m from, it’s just me.

– What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?

Your grind has to match your talent.

The talent from TN to FL, has grown his sound that is distinct as he fuses us with different rhymes schemes & display of auto-tune vocals. His music comes with melodies as he keeps the honesty in his records at an all-time high. Villz is filled with plenty of jams. Tune in.

– What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?

I hope to reach a lot of ears and perform on the biggest stages.

– What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?

That they are not alone, I plan to grow with my audience so I want to show growth of a human in all areas including raw emotions, maturing, and the shift of priorities.

– How would you describe your own sound?

I would describe my music as a motion picture that’s available in all setting. All you must do is close your eyes to see it. It’ll be a new screening with new scenes each show.

– What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?

I’ve learned that no matter how much you don’t want to be an role model you will be. Recently I’ve started to take responsibility for my influence.

3. Danny Boy – (@YesImDano)

Coming out of Brooklyn, Danny Boy brings us a concise flow & lays down smooth rhymes. His lyrics come with a personal touch that always makes his music ride. With a growing collection of music, Danny Boy’s wave is building & he only continues to grow. Get hip to the Brookyln upstart.

– What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?

I want to expose people to Me, my City and my label, East Chain, as much as possible. It’s so much more to not only Brooklyn, but New York in a while that people don’t really get exposed to and I want to give the world the most authentic Material possible. Same goes for myself, a lot of people know me for a certain vibe, a certain sentiment, and I been through a lot in life as well as growing as an artist since as of late and I want to reintroduce the world to Danny Boy.

– What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?

I want them to fall in love with my realness. I pride myself on the fact that I only speak on topics I’ve either researched or lived through. You won’t hear any fabrications in my work and I hope that inspires people to not only be real with the world but be real with themselves as well. I think the state of the world right now is weird and majority of our generation feels like they gotta put on a certain image in order to survive or be accepted. I want everybody to know it’s okay to like what you like, do what you do and either people gone relate and respect it or neglect it and that just means those not your type of people. Everybody can be great in their own way doing it their own way. Period

– How would you describe your own sound?

It’s a bunch of everything in my eyes. I lived a bunch of places rich with music history. From Brooklyn, got roots in Chicago and spent a couple years in Atlanta and got real connected with the music down there. I keep organic when I’m creating though. As cliche as it sounds I don’t go in with the idea on making a “Type” track. Everybody on the Label had their own sound and we encourage each other to push our identities so it comes out as real as possible. I feel like I can finesse any beat so I don’t shy away from any challenging sounds. You gone get your conscious songs and you gone get your trap raps where I’m stacking and whipping and flipping. Just depends on what mood I’m in.

– What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?

That the music business and business of making music and being an artist are two totally different things. It really ain’t no friends in this game, you might think somebody fuck with you but most times their just opportunities or energy vultures. It’s hard to tell who’s genuine and most of it is just smoke and mirrors. I learned that staying to myself and my team is the best route cause when you try to be cool with everybody, show everybody love, people take that as weakness and you set yourself up to let others dictate your life. I also learned that there is no “Right Way” to do it. Doing you is going to get you way farther than mirroring what’s hot right now because trends always die, but if you stay true to yourself, everybody won’t love you but you’ll have that one kid that can relate to every song because he’s going through it and that means way more than having 1 million niggas fake love you cause you a trendy gimmick.

Larry June is rolling out of the West Coast with roots in Atlanta & he’s coming fast. His sound comes with heavy punchlines, trademark ad-libs, & unorthodox flows. The Free Minded x OGG artist is good for giving us anthems & his collection keeps to build. As we get more music & Larry continues to show us his sound stay tuned.

– What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?

Opening up a Whole Foods would be great. I shop at Whole Foods frequently & it’s addressed in my raps.

– What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?

Move smart and stay ready so you don’t have to get ready and last but not least never major in minor things.

– How would you describe your own sound?

Electrifying.

– What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?

Have patience.
