Philly-to-London Rap veteran Eve is back. Below, check out her new single “Reload,” a Dancehall-inspired cut that features an assist from Jamaican star Konshens. She explains the new collaboration via press release:

“I love reggae so much… I’ve been going to Jamaica since 1999 and anyone that knows me knows that you’ll find me in a corner with my Reggae on, dancing. We wrote the line before [Konshens] was involved [‘f***ing up my conscience/listening to Konshens’] – I’m just glad he was feeling it!”

Also added below is a recent sit-down with Luc Belaire CEO Brett Berish, where she speaks more on the new album, women in Hip-Hop and more.

]]> Rap legend E-40 just dropped the latest video from his The Gift of Gab album for “One Night,” a dance-hall-inspired club banger featuring singer Konshens and Ty Dolla $ign.

E-40 goes dumb in his natural habitat in this visual, while all three artists enjoy some late-night debauchery. Riding bouncy, square wave synths over stuttering drums, 40 delivers this addictive club jam with an infectious hook from dancehall singer Konshens, a passionate verse from Ty Dolla $ign, and some ferocious bars from the man himself:

Drunker than a motherfucker / High as a kite / Strawberry kush / tequila and sprite / Got in with my cig / Snuck in with my stick / ‘What you mean a stick?’ / Extended clip.

]]> The annual SXSW music showcase took place last week [March 10th-18th] featuring a major and local acts from all over the world. RESPECT caught up with the Caribbean dance music sensation Konshens – who performed at the Revolt House showcase, Empire label Street Execs show, and featured on Pitchfork’s podcast.

Konshens recently dropped a single with Rick Ross from the upcoming sophomore album, “It Feel Good.” This of course contains nothing but reggae dancehall hits buzzing among industry insiders. Find out more about this artist and what he has coming next with his career within the interview below!

Q: As A Rising Artist, What Has Been The Highlights Of Career?

A: “My entire career has been a highlight. I didn’t really started inspiring to be an artist. I think getting up everyday doing music is a highlight for me.”

Q: How Do You Feel About The Caribbean Influence In Today’s American Market?

A: “I love it and I don’t think that it is new. Jamaican music has a whole in all has influenced the many worlds for years. All though we have the Drake‘s, and the Kendrick‘s, Justin Biebers; you hear it a lot more now. I’m a big fan of Drake. Caribbean music as whole – these artists put our culture on a big platform.”

Q: What Have You Been Involved In For SXSW?

A: “I have my label show, I’m signed to Empire. I’ve been with a lot of my label mates. I’ve been doing a whole lot, interviews, and networking.”

Q: What Do You Have Planned For The Rest Of 2018?

A: “Right now the focus is on the album, “It Feel Good.” We’re just pushing it to see how far we can take it. It’s releasing soon.”

album, “It Feel Good.” The album, the first in a new venture with
San Francisco-based EMPIRE, features appearances from Rick Ross, Shaggy, Chris Brown and Tarrus Riley, and production from a committee of Jamaica’s most talented producers including Rvssian, Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGrego and Don Corleon.

Already buzzing amongst industry insiders, “It Feel Good,” is full of real dancehall reggae hits and basement anthems Konshens is known for while incorporating a more global sound of trap, R&B, and other melodic flavors.
