Lyricist, DJ, Curator, Audio Engineer and Event Planner.

These are only a few of the titles Koleco Elizaire aka “Knoimnot” holds. This young artist based out of Prince George’s County, Maryland is showing everyone just what it means to be a jack of all trades; not only does he have a passion for his music, he also shares the same passion for connecting with likeminded individuals and creating whatever type of art he can. Knoimnot is currently on his first solo tour entitled the “Knoimnot Creative Collaboration Tour,” where he’s becoming immersed in even more connection, creativity and collaboration.

RESPECT.: What separates you from other djs and why do you call yourself an artistic DJ?

Knoimnot: The one thing that separates me from other DJs is that my goal isn’t just to make the crowd move but more so make the crowd understand that it’s okay to feel, it’s okay to dance, it’s okay to express. I want every single person in the crowd to experience my vibe and understand what kind of artist I am through sound and expression. A lot of DJs are missing or don’t have the quality of intimacy and I personally think I’m blessed enough to touch a large amount of people in one room at the same time. I honestly think being a sound selector is an art form and that’s why I would consider myself an artistic DJ.

RESPECT.: Tell us about the Creative Collaboration Tour.

The KNOIMNOT “Creative Collaboration Tour” is a tour dedicated to people who would like to collaborate with production, song writing, djing, curating, poetry or anything that’s creative. One day I woke up and told myself that I was tired of waiting on people. I’m tired of waiting on music festivals and I’m tired of waiting on things to pop off. I’m not getting any younger and nowadays my people are dying for no reason. So I asked myself ..”What am I waiting on?” and then I was like, “Hey! I want to travel and become a new person and create more”. So I decided to have my own personal shows in DC and travel to NY for Afro Punk and go to California for the first time. I knew that more shows would come and I knew that more opportunities would pop up for me, and they did. I really think this tour is going very well and this might have been the best decision I’ve ever made in my life.

RESPECT.: How do you find inspiration for your music/art?

I usually find inspiration by analyzing my thoughts and emotions. At times I see myself gaining inspiration by some of my friends, scenery or visual images. When I was 14, I really started to experience a lot of different interactions while transitioning into high school and I started to see more through the mind and less through the eyes. At 15, I was blessed to learn about the art of conversion, which is taking a certain art genre and converting it into another genre. I can look at a painting for 15 min and make a whole song/mix about what I’m experiencing or how I feel about it. I’ve practice this method for about 7 years now and I’m glad that I grew and progressed with this gift.

RESPECT.: What projects do you have coming in the future?

Currently I’m working on a few mixes and I’ll also producing my next project with my team member from my collective “Frankliin” which will be an electronic R&B project.

RESPECT.: Who are some of your favorite djs/artists?

Frankliin, Ayes Cold, Native Sun, Dj Underdog, Tha Yellow R Kelly, Mikado, Arif Omari, Sango, and Esta

RESPECT.: Where do you see yourself in the next year?

I see myself traveling the world and spreading the movement, performing at music festivals and possibly being self employed.

RESPECT.: Tell us more about the Last Niight Music Group, what’s it like working with these other artists?

Last Niight consist of 4 innovators ( KNOIMNOT, NIKO GIANI, FRAKLIIN, RAYY FROM LAST NIIGHT). Our mission as a collective is to make the Last Niight movement an outlet for people who love to create, connect, and share. Working with my brothers has definitely taught me a lot about life and music. I learned the true meaning of quality vs quantity and I learned how to remain patient when things go wrong.
