With snarling Teddy Roxpin production as his backdrop, King Magnetic unleashes a flurry of rhymes at his opponents while explaining exactly why the track came to be. As the Allentown, PA rapper tells it, everything started in ’09 with petty internal back and forths, and was squashed almost five years ago. “I caught Paz after a show in Albuquerque, we sat down, talked about things and both agreed to stop the bullsh*t. I let him know I had this song in the tuck, and had no plans of releasing it if his nonsense stopped.”

The breaking point came last year when Paz threatened to remove his lyrics and track contributions from Doap Nixon’s Sour Diesel II, unless Doap removed King Magnetic’s verses from the project. Mag couldn’t stand the pettiness any longer and dug up the diss record for the public to hear.

From Paz’s rap name to his family life to his rap career, nothing is safe from the fury of King Mag’s bars on “Be Quiet.” While his core message is that no one actually respects Paz for his fraudulence, “using your fam” and stealing their work, there are also hard-hitting lines like: “Post pictures of your guns and your son/ In reality you know you ain’t playing with either one.”“Be Quiet” is available now for stream and download through all majors DSPs, and is accompanied with a lyric video which you could peep right here, courtesy of RESPECT.

Like the visuals for “Back in the Trap” that we saw earlier this summer, “Help Me” is directed by We L!ve TV and plays out almost like a short film. While we certainly see plenty of the Allentown, PA rapper performing for the camera, he also depicts the life of a man who’s back is against the wall and must do what he feels is necessary to get by.

Although the result of his actions may be unclear, it is quite undeniable that the character King Mag is portraying is one of hunger and desperation. His cries for help bleed through into the music, wherein he spits about why he needs help in a variety of flows over DOCWILLROB’s menacing instrumental. It all paints a bleak and startling picture that fans of street rap will gravitate towards.

King Magnetic is officially “Back In The Trap” for the lead single and music video off his upcoming album of the same name, which is a collaborative project with Canadian producer, DOCWILLROB. Together, they’re crafting an equally harrowing and gripping look at the streets that boasts a modern sound, with a time-tested approach to lyricism.

While King Mag maintains the straightforward and gruff approach that made his 2017 project, Everything Happens 4 A Reason, a success, he’s now pairing it with hard-hitting instrumentals made for the whip. The Allentown, PA rapper may have laid his roots in Boom bap, but he’s proving here that he can also embrace the Trap sound alongside Winnipeg-based producer, DOCWILLROB.

Their first single together is brought to life by the team at We L!ve TV, who capture the gritty and tenacious energy of King Mag’s rhymes. Like the track itself, the visuals mostly center on the chorus’ idea that you need to “Kill something just to live.” What exactly ends up being killed, well, that’s up to the viewer to decide.

Armed with a huge voice and powerful lyricism, King Magnetic is proving to be a substantive force in the underground Hip-Hop scene that birthed him. And with his sophomore album, Everything Happens 4 A Reason, the Allentown, PA native has firmly cemented himself within the circles of rap greats that he can now call his own.

Many of the genre’s greatest works possess a clear concept or outline for what you’re about to hear on the album’s intro track, and this record is no different. Opener “EH4AR” sets the tone with immediacy and passion thanks to Mag’s equally thoughtful and braggadocious bars: “I was in and out of jail, now I’m in and out of jets/ Invest a lot checks, so I’m in and out of debt/ Sinnin’ out of stress, spinnin’ out of control/ You was gettin’ out of school, I was gettin’ on parole.”

There’s a clear self-awareness to Mag on the entirety of the 14-track album, and it’s what makes his music so engaging. That applies when he’s bodying wack rappers and their crews on the one-two punch of “Cash 4 Catastrophe” and “Suckas Can’t Relate”; throwing a couple back on “Drunk Right Now” and “#nomorepartiesinsantafe” (feat. 3T3N); or trading verses with legends on “Dirty Old Man” with R.A. The Rugged Man, and “Alone” with Slug and Masta Ace.

It’s his depth beyond pure bravado and hedonism that makes Mag so relatable, and why Everything Happens 4 A Reason is such an important listen. And those qualities are most evident on the album’s closing track, “I’ll Show You,” a soulful and eye-opening cut produced by Astronote that features singer Dink and Wu-Tang member Cappadonna. Mag and Cap are actually touring partners, and one can only hope they spread the track’s message onstage together.

On his brand-new banger “Alone,” King Magnetic trades fiery verses with two living rap legends, Slug (of Atmosphere) and Masta Ace, over hard-hitting production from Khrysis. Making the cipher complete is Queens’ own DJ Eclipse, who provides the slick scratches on the hook.

The release of “Alone” follows two other heaters off Mag’s upcoming album, Everything Happens 4 A Reason: the symphonic slapper, “I’ll Show You” featuring Cappadonna and Dink, and the project’s inaugural leak, “Cash 4 Catastrophe” which was accompanied with a video.

Just as fans enjoyed the real-talk of “Cash,” we’re treated to Hip-Hop in its purest form on “Alone.” Of course, we have King Mag and his teeth-gritting bars to thank for that, in addition to the always-sharp rhymes of his guests. Slug and Ace are the type of elder-rap statesmen who haven’t once lost a step in their decades-long careers, whether they’re talking their sh*t or serving up wisdom.

The two provide a fine offering of both on “Alone” alongside King Mag, who in addition to his upcoming album is getting ready to hit the road soon. He’ll be touring alongside Wu-Tang Clan heavyweight Cappadonna, and up-and-comer Recognize Ali.

After dropping a serious slapper with “Cash 4 Catastrophe,” King Magnetic delivers a smooth and contemplative new single, “I’ll Show You,” featuring Wu-Tang’s very own Cappadonna, and soulful vocalist, Dink.

The second single off King Mag’s upcoming Everything Happens 4 A Reason further demonstrates the Allentown, PA’s skill set, which continues to grow with every track he drops. That much is evident on “I’ll Show You,” a head-nodding cut driven by its thoughtful meditations on police brutality and other issues plaguing our society.

Cap bats cleanup on the track and provides his own bits of wisdom, noting poignantly that he has given “everybody knowledge to boost their self-esteem” for more than two decades now. And his appearance is fitting on multiple levels, particularly the fact that he’ll be touring with both King Mag and Ghana’s Recognize Ali in the coming month in promotion for Everything Happens 4 A Reason.

As for the melodic instrumental, it was supplied by acclaimed French producer Astronote, who has worked with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Blu, Talib Kweli, Little Simz, and more. For the first preview of his upcoming sophomore album, Everything Happens 4 A Reason, King Magnetic stunts around Philly with his crew in the video for “Cash 4 Catastrophe,” a no-frills banger filled with crazy wordplay and lyrical darts.

With director Jeremy Mack behind the camera, the larger-than-life Allentown, PA native and his team stop by city’s Ruckus Gallery and post up in front of some slick graffiti work of Big Pun and Doctor Doom. They’re fitting settings for Mag’s equally agile, bare-knuckled verses that come packed with witty bars for his competition: “You not fastin’, you starvin’ for attention/ I roll dolo ‘cause I’m harder than your henchmen.”

The Explizit One-produced slapper serves the lead single off the rapper’s forthcoming new record, Everything Happens 4 A Reason. It’s the follow-up to 2015’s great Timing Is Everything, and includes guest features from Masta Ace, R.A. The Rugged Man, Slug, and Cappadonna, among others. Speaking of Cap, Mag will be touring alongside the Wu-Tang Clan rapper in the coming months. Their tour dates will be announced March 7, which also marks the release of Mag’s new single “I’ll Show You,” featuring Cappadonna and Dink. Then on March 21st, he’ll release the project’s third and final release “Alone,” featuring Masta Ace & Slug, with cuts courtesy of DJ Eclipse.
