Deeply embedded in music and offering a different vibe to R&B/soul, Keyshia Cole is constantly bringing something new to the table. Many wonder how Cole keeps killing it album after album. Well, she holds nothing back. 11:11 Reset is nothing like your normal R&B album.

“You,” which features Remy Ma and French Montana, is the new “f**k the BS” anthem. “Ride” features up and comer Kamaiyah, and that’s not the best part — Keyshia tapped into some Tupac Shakur for an R&B revamp. Let’s not forget “Emotional,” which will definitely be the next track you hear people bumping as loud as they can. Wrap those all up with a DJ Khaled intro and Too $hort outro and you have yourself the best R&B album of 2017 and 2018.

Technically, 90s R&B is a thing of the past, but its influence in today’s music is still alive and strong. And, Houston-born composer, Coline Creuzot is among the generation of singers and songwriters who strives to preserve it.

You’ve probably heard about Coline’s 2016 single “Truth Is” when it rose to number #24 on the U.S Billboard Adult R&B/Contemporary chart; or you might have heard her sultry vocals on radio and digital airwaves. Now, the burgeoning diva is back with “High Life,” a provocative, upbeat, tune—just right for the summer. On the hook, Coline interpolates the famous line from the classic 1977 hit “Ooh Boy” by R& B group, Rose Royce.

“Ooh boy, I love you so never ever, ever gonna let you go, let you go; never ever, ever gonna let you go.”

Written by Dallas Blocker and produced by J Sounds, the single is what Coline describes as a breath of fresh air.

“My friend Dallas called after I released my last single ‘Truth Is,’ and told me he wrote an amazing song for me,” said Coline in a press release. “When I heard ‘High Life’ I instantly fell in love with it; it’s a breath of fresh air.”

The new track explores a new musical direction for the singer, but Coline says it’s still her:

“It’s fun and sexy but still me and it matches the sounds of the other songs on my project.”

The new single shows a new side of the rising starlet who mostly pens songs about relationships and heartbreak. Currently, the Sony ATV signee is working on her third studio album Timeless, slated for release this summer. Coline’s heartfelt writing chops in tandem with her vocal prowess have led to her being the opening act for various multiplatinum-selling recording artists including Monica, T-Pain, T.I., and Keyshia Cole. With a musical style that implements elements of hip-hop and “chopped n screwed” music; the songster with a big heart and an expansive voice range is building a lane of her own.

Right before crossing over into the New Year, the industry was slated with heartbreak from the passing of singer Natalie Cole, daughter of famed jazz guru Nat King Cole (Dec. 31).

Although she spent the beginning of her career walking in her father’s shadow and combating Aretha Franklin comparisons, Cole found her voice in R&B, birthing tracks that entertained the highs and lows of love.

The legacy she created for herself opened doors for admirers to show their appreciation in different sectors of the entertainment industry. From her most popular song, This Will Be,  being featured in The Parent Trap, to Mary J. Blige covering Our Love, the industry has continuously showed favor to the woman who wasn’t afraid to praise the beauty of romance.

Today, Cole dropped the sequel to 2007’s “I Remember,” “Remember (Part 2).” The ballad laments loss of love and the pain of rejection from that person closest to you. Cole croons, “Things ain’t weighing out things ain’t addin up baby / I don’t know if I even miss you / Don’t wanna kiss you / How could you love somebody else.”

The album has some pretty big collaborations on it: 2 Chainz, Juicy J, Wale, August Alsina, Future, & Gavyn Rhone will all make appearances on Point of No Return. Besides “Rick James” and “Remember (Part 2)” singles “Next Time (Won’t Give My Heart Away),” and the DJ Mustard-produced “She” have already hit the cybersphere—to majority positive reception. Other slated producers include Mike WiLL Made-It, Stargate, Mario Winans, and RedOne.

Cole was recently in some hot water for reportedly assaulting a woman outside of boyfriend Birdman‘s penthouse. On Friday, she was arrested and later released on charges of battery by LAPD. Hopefully Cole can turn all of this around before the release of her album.
