Burt Reynolds has not only played the role of a guardian angel on the big screen in Hollywood but in real life too. Many owe their success, and big Hollywood breaks to the late legendary American actor, director, and producer. With a heart of gold and hub for beginners, Reynolds aced the character of a perfect messiah for aspiring actors by taking them under his wings through the means of Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre, Florida. And Kate Katzman is one of them who got that chance to break out, learn things in the entertainment arena, and perhaps, wrap her head around new skill sets that would’ve otherwise not happened without his influence.

What comes to our head when we now think of Kate Katzman? Quite obviously, among many other things, her acting debut in “Walt before Mickey” as Lillian Disney, Walt’s wife, is one of the finest characters that is remembered and cherished to date. Katzman has had her journey to narrate for a long time – about acting, fame, passion, her mentor-mentee relationship with Burt Reynolds, and lessons learned, experiences preserved while working alongside the late legendary talent. Although Katzman has had a career spanning a few years now, she says it was hard finding a mentor like Reynolds. He not only guided her during her stint at the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre but helped her make the right choices and navigate her way through showbiz when she had just started dabbling in acting.

Katzman’s current slate is filled with fortunate, immersed by projects in different stages of development. Later in the coming year, Katzman will be seen featuring in “Adverse” opposite Mickey Rourke, Lou Diamond Philips, and Penelope Ann Miller, and “The Comeback Trail,” based on the comedy remake of a 1980s namesake film alongside Robert De Niro, Tommy Lee Jones, Morgan Freeman, and Zach Braff. Katzman will also be seen in David Henrie’s directorial debut, “This is the Year.” She believes her stars truly aligned when she was offered the opportunity of working as an eccentric elf, Dippy, in a Christmas comedy “Santa in Training” along with Antonio Sabato Jr, Julio Iglesias Junior, and Carson Rowland.

Today, Katzman is largely known worldwide. Her journey into the film industry began conventionally enough. Her formal theatrical background, passion for leaping into Hollywood, and outstanding performance as a debutant proved to be a massive asset, which has brought her to the attention of the industry’s best of best directors.

The supremely talented actress is eternally thankful that her professional journey intertwined with the late award-winning actor, also her mentor, who helped build her career, choices, and chances. For Katzman, the success of her movies is not only a reflection of her performance and talent – it’s made more challenging by the fact that she is a mentee of a legend looked upon by ardent followers of Hollywood belonging to different generations. She also adds, “I am what I am because I got and grabbed the opportunity to learn theatre at the Burt Reynolds Institute under the directives of the man himself, Mr. Reynolds. This journey of leaning into learning has been very therapeutic in so many ways. I am glad I made the decision to turn my passion into a profession – how else I could have met my mentor who introduced me to the world of Hollywood?”
