The star posted a photo of episode 15’s script to Instagram to let her fans know.

The caption stating: “I know it’s Thursday, but this is not a TBT,” she wrote, adding the hashtags, “#BackOnSet #TVDForever.” The photo revealed the epic title of the finale, “I Was Feeling Epic,” and that co-creators Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson wrote the series ender together, with Plec set to direct.

Both Plec and Williamson have spoken about Nina’s return: “I’m thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended — with Nina back to help us say goodbye,” said Plec. “I’m so excited to have Nina back to ensure our farewell episode is truly epic!” Williamson added.

Nina’s return shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to fans considering that Elena wasn’t killed off, but instead, has been resting peacefully in a magic-induced coma thanks to the work of Kai. Additionally, The Vampire Diaries Plec has always said that actress’s return was part of the plan. Back in 2015, Plec told EW, “Nina has always said that if there’s something for her to do in the series finale that she will be there to do it. When she left, she said, ‘I want to see this character to its end at the end of the show, so I can’t wait to come back and put her to bed again.’”

Older scenes from previous seasons featuring Nina’s character have been shown throughout the eighth and final season as Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) struggles to retain his memories of the love of his life.

Images from the finale have emerged from Williamson, Plec and other cast members.

The question remains: is Stelena or Delena end game? Or will it be a surprise twist we will never see coming?

The Vampire Diaries airs Fridays at 8/7c on the CW. The series finale will air on March 10.

Ahhhh The Vampire Diaries has returned. The 8^th and final season of The CW show gave a slow and steady build in its premiere hour, ultimately revealing the face of our final big-bad. The biggest bad we have ever seen according to executive producer Julie Plec. “Hello Brother” kicks off with Damon and Enzo kidnapping a couple. The young girl dies quickly while her male counterpart gets tortured.

Steroline is back in full swing after reconciling in the season 7 finale. Therefore Bonnie is writing to Elena now; the three friends are taking turns writing to her. Not soon after she finishes up her journal entry, the police find the body of the young girl. Later in the episode we find out that Enzo left the girl’s body as a clue. Guitar wire was found around her neck and candle wax was found in her ear only 3 miles from an abandoned warehouse with drainage issues.

Bonnie has flashbacks of her and Enzo’s relationship. Him teaching her how to play the guitar and reading the Odyssey and a book on sirens to her. She then puts two and two together and realizes he is leaving her messages at the crime scene based off stories of the sirens; the wax, how he setup the girl’s body. Enzo wants them to help fight the creature. That’s why he is leaving clues. Enzo wanted Bonnie and Stefan to find them.

Damon has switched off his humanity again in order to survive. He has it in his head that there is no such thing as redemption. However, he still has flashbacks of the first time he and Elena met. Damon is calling out to Elena for help. He doesn’t know how long he can fight. Stefan learns this the hard way when he finds the warehouse.

Damon says his famous “Hello brother” line [God I love when he says that!] and proceeds to tell Stefan to give up and walk away. The banter between the Salvatore brothers continues but is cut short when Bonnie arrives and Damon realizes Stefan won’t leave without him. Stefan then stabs Damon with a broom stick in an attempt to kidnap him. Enzo comes out of nowhere and punches Stefan as Damon takes Bonnie hostage.

Stefan and Bonnie leave without Damon and Enzo. After seeing Enzo, Bonnie has regained her hope however Stefan may have lost his. Stefan is afraid Damon may never forgive him.

Understandably so, Damon did tell Stefan that his life has been over for over a century when Stefan took it away from him; when Stefan forced him to become a vampire. However, this was one last blow in hopes to keep his brother out of harm’s way. Damon is trying to protect Stefan from the creature that has Enzo and him under its grasp. Damon shut off his humanity because “You care for nothing, it can see nothing.” The creature will hurt or kill what you love.

Later on in the episode Damon and Enzo take another victim. This time it’s a painter who paints with human blood. As we learn the creature can sense evil/darkness in people and feeds off of that. It knows your darkest secrets, even if you try to hide them. The creature is revealed to be a woman toward the last act of the episode. She is singing and apparently has had enough to eat as she was strong enough to introduce herself to the boys.

Georgie and Alaric’s intern discover a place in the armory where you can go through the wall. The same wall that Damon, Enzo and the creature used to escape the armory. This wall leads to another tunnel, which leads to a hidden door with hidden treasures. While Ric is uncovering treasures his children and nanny (Seline) are being attacked by Virginia; the girl who escaped from the mental institution in season 7 and knows everything there is to know about the woman controlling Damon and Enzo.

Virginia slices Seline’s throat and goes after the twins. Caroline quickly arrives and knocks out Virginia. She then gives Seline her blood, saves her and has her take the twins out for ice cream so she can interrogate the deranged woman. Virginia lets Caroline know that the creature (siren woman) wants the twins. But why?

Before we can find out Virginia swallows her own tongue and dies.

Ric returns to the house and tells Caroline to go live with Stefan. He will move into her childhood home with the girls because it is what she wants. It will make her happy. Georgie may end up making him happy but he isn’t up for trying anything…yet.

Steroline moves in together and Stefan writes to Elena telling him that he thinks he lost Damon but promises he won’t give up on him.

Fans who attended the panel this morning at SDCC were shown a touching tribute to the fandom by showrunners Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, along with long standing members of the cast like Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Candice King and Kat Graham. You can watch the heartwarming tribute here:

Also announced at the panel was that co-creator Kevin Williamson would be back writing for the 8^th season. A sizzle reel of what’s to come in TVD’s final season was also shown to panel attendees. According to Deadline.com, Plec also teased a new villain for TVD, though she won’t give many details except to say it was unlike anything the show has had before. “We have a finger so far,” she joked of the character that was developed after the WBTV series found out it was coming back one more time. According to TVline.com, an intro video, featuring that creepy hand from the Season 7 finale, teased: “This season, get ready to meet evil herself.” (That’s right, herself.) Describing the new Season 8 villain as the “final bad,” Williamson noted that it’s a “cool way to infuse Mystic Falls with this ultimate evil. It’s like a cherry on top of the entire mythology of Mystic Falls. Meanwhile, Somerhalder said, we’ll see “Damon and Enzo doing some gnarly s–t,” adding that “the mind control thing is actually quite interesting. … In their minds, they’re still them. That conflict and that struggle is what we always look for.” Sadly, Bonnie is “literally at ground zero” when Season 8 begins. “A lot of last season was about the development of the relationship Bonnie had with Enzo, and obviously Bonnie and Damon,” Graham said. “You saw the crumbling of her in the finale. She also doesn’t have her magic. The thing that made her feel like herself, and also her best friends, are not there. It’s going to be really exciting to see Bonnie’s journey this season.” Poor Stefan is “just crying, constantly,” Wesley teased. “[He’s] missing his bro, his bro-ham. It’s back to the original dynamic of the brothers. The dynamic was always Damon getting in trouble and Stefan trying to save him. … We’ll see how long that lasts, but for the current time, he has a broken heart over his big bro.” Caroline is “very busy” in Season 8, trying to maintain a connection with Alaric and the twins while also “helping Stefan and Bonnie track down Damon and Enzo.” As for everyone’s favorite human, Matt Donovan “had to make the decision to let go of that love [for the vampires].” Also every Season 8 episode title will be a line of dialogue from previous seasons. Pretty cool, huh?

Will this season’s big bad be played by actress Nadine Lewington (Containment another show written and developed by Julie Plec), seen at a table read/celebration of season 8 with the rest of the cast and crew? Or will it be Kristen Gutoskie, also from Containment, who is listed as Seline in the first episode of season 8? We shall see.

There is still no word as to whether or not Dobrev will return for season 8, although Plec has previously said she would want her to return for the series finale. Season 8 is slotted to have 23 episodes and will premiere on The CW Friday October 21^st, 2016. Here’s hoping season 8 will answer all our questions, tie up loose ends, throw in some epic stories and surprises and have a satisfying ending. It’s a tall order to fill but if any cast/crew could pull it off it would be The Vampire Diaries.
