Nikko Lafre – “Toubled Soul: Blame The City”

When speaking on the hype surrounding Nikko Lafre, “Troubled Soul: Blame The City” proves why the buzz is real. Having covered Lafre for a while now, the Minneapolis native has time and time again offered up consistency and diversity with every release. “Troubled Soul” picks up where his singles left off, constructing a 16-track sonic experience that delves into the introspection of personal consciousness, while still appealing to different lanes of the culture. K-BeatZ and Johnny Rain’s production create a landscape, a picturesque shell that allows Nikko’s rhymes to capture moments throughout. Also, the implementation of the DJ Skee interview adds depth and artistic insight to a songster who has been making incredible music primarily behind the scenes. Lafre is here for the long haul; just blame it on the city.

Nikko Lafre drops a lyrical parallel highlighting Timberwolves rookie and NBA All-Star Dunk Contest participant Zach Lavine titled, well, “Zach Lavine.” Lafre being a Minneapolis native pays tribute to the rookie’s success while delivering razor sharp flows over trap-like production from K-Beatz and Johnny Rain. “Troubled Soul,” Nikko’s debut album, is slated for a March release and every new record builds the project’s anticipation. “I’m in the trap and it’s jumpin’ like it’s Zach Lavine..Zach Lavine.”

Nikko Lafre Releases “Pro” As Leading Single

After much anticipation, the young twenty year old talent, Nikko Lafre, delivers a new single off his upcoming project titled, “Pro”. The new record just so happens to be the first single release from Guilty Of Dedication which will serve as the stars debut project with Dorian Distribution/300 Entertainment. Nikko never seems to disappoint as the new energetic record will surely get you up out of your seat and most likely have you chanting along. Nikko decides to link up with his brethren, Johnny Rain for an up tempo banger that not only consists of tight vocals from Johnny but those classic and vivid bars that we have grown accustomed to from Nikko. Late Pass: Johnny Rain – Lullaby of Machine

Okay, this actually hit the web in February, but better late than never.

If you’re not up on Johnny Rain, you will most likely be tweeting about him after this 13-track project. L.o.M., produced entirely by the Southern California artist himself, features some of the most attention-grabbing sonic elements since The Weeknd’s House of Balloons. Described by the 6J Recordings signee as “Avant-Electro,” the sound is at once cold and atmospheric, while still drawing listeners in with lyrics of loss and attempted reconciliations.

Listeners may draw some comparisons to JMSN’s Priscilla album, distressed girlfriend voicemail interludes and all, but this remains as a powerful standalone project. Stream or download below.
