Singer/Songwriter Gabrielle Lynn has officially released her highly anticipated EP Ethereal. Being heavily influenced by Sade, Erykah Badu, SZA, and Daniel Ceaser, her original sound is a direct reminder of how thriving R&B music is right now. Her Minnesota upbringing with loving and supportive parents has propelled her to take her talent to new heights. The songstress has created a masterpiece full of serene melodies, concrete lyrics, and raw emotion.

Within 6 tracks Gabrielle Lynn showcases why she is ready to take the music business by storm. To ensure the success of this project, she teamed up with 2 time Grammy Award winning producer Riotheyneedahit. Having worked with R&B tycoons Jill Scott, Ashanti and K. Michelle, his musical direction has given the singer a powerful edge over the other rising singers. Two things to listen for on  Ethereal is the purity and rawness Lynn’s vocals give off on each record. 

One song that really captures Lynn’s authenticity is a track titled “Reasons”. As this song has a more uptempo melody, you can hear how sonically pleasing her voice is over the instrument driven beat. Some notable lyrics include “what if I told you, you’re more than a friend, what if we never waste a moment again, let’s make it happen and see what comes next, what if I need you what would you do”. Her strong penmanship and desire to put out high quality music comes full circle on this release.

We all saw the viral clip of my wife Jill Scott showcasing her skills during a performance (something that regular fans of Jill really shouldn’t be surprised by). Following a massive response by approving men everywhere, Trey Songz decided he’d put his response to Jilly from Philly in song, over a flipped instrumental from the classic cut “He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat).” Enjoy the A-Wall produced cut below.

Hallmark just got another card writer for their Mahogany card brand. The company recently announced that the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, Jill Scott will be adding her “golden and poetic” lyrics to their Mahogany line of inspired cards. The company had this to say about the collaboration of the line and Scott:

“Ms. Scott is more than a singer, songwriter and actress – among other things, she is a busy mom and wife, like many Hallmark shoppers who cherish and celebrate the important relationships in their lives, and this card collection is a reflection of that. “Through this partnership, we were able to combine Mahogany cards’ messages rooted in inspiration, positivity and cultural connection with Jill Scott’s unique, bold and soulful editorial and design vision to create a one-of-a-kind collection,” said Philip Polk, Vice President – Multicultural Strategy, Hallmark Cards.

Scott worked with the team at Hallmark to diligently select and design themes that reflected her personality which included vivid colors, natural textures and metallics. She also wrote many of the cards herself, opting for a more genuine and heartfelt message.

“The Mahogany brand is genuine, progressive and optimistic – values that are important to me and reflected in my music and poetry, and now, through my card collection. I was inspired by highlights within my own life – love, marriage, motherhood – in the writing behind these cards, and I am excited to be involved in a project that will give others another way to express their love to the people that matter most to them.”

According to AP, Scott stated that she believes selling greeting cards is needed and profitable despite sending emails, texts and messages through social media. Just recently Scott took to twitter to introduce the line to her fans:

The Jill Scott Collection is available now at select Hallmark Gold Crown stores and will feature titles for Mothers Day, Fathers Day, graduation, friendship, love and support and also a Valentines Day collection starting this month – most collections will be available throughout the year. Shhh!!! It’s a secret. Three time Grammy award winner-songwriter, Jill Scott a.k.a “JillyfromPhilly” got married over the weekend. TheFool’s Gold performer/songstress got married to longtime beau, Mike Dobson in Los Angeles on Saturday. This was so unexpected and if you’re like us, you’re probably very surprised and filled with questions such as “I didn’t know she was dating?” “When did she get engaged?” And “How were we all out of the loop?” Well Jill Scott has always been known to keep keep her singing life open and her private life CLOSED! So news of this sorts are really not that surprising, but she could have at least gave us a little something, right?

If you’re feeling a little taken back by the news, don’t be. According to Mike Dobson’s long time friend, DJ Mars, was in the dark as well. Below are the comments he posted to his IG page:

“So my man called me a year ago and said, ‘Mars I need you to DJ my wedding…don’t get booked on June 25th 2016! He came to my house and gave me the deposit early, but he didn’t say he was marrying Jill Scott!!!!! D**n homie!!!!!!!!!!”

So Jill was not the only one on the HUSH, HUSH as it seems like her newly wedded beau was also not spilling the beans either. According to online, Scott looked gorgeous and radiant in a white low-cut gown with lace sleeves and a silver sparkling belt, her hair was adorned with white clips in which she wore up with a long veil. Dobson wore a black tux. The arrangements and tables were all decorated and adorned with pink roses.

As if the wedding could not be anymore formal, private and intimate, Dobson surprised his wife with a performance none other than Big Daddy Kane. Kane came into the wedding, grabbed a mic and started rapping to “Smooth Operator.” Scott– whom was having a great time dancing with family and friends– was elated when Big Daddy approached her in song; the look on her face was truly priceless.

Cheers to Jill Scott and her new hubby, Mike Dobson! We wish them love, peace, happiness & a future filled with more beautiful music.
