Atlanta rapper Yung Zu returns to the scene with his new single titled “Fire“. As he has captured the attention of his whole city, his authentic sound reaches new heights like never before. With the support of Atlanta music legends such as Usher, T.I., 2 Chainz, and Hip Hop super producer Jermaine Dupri, Zu has put in the work to be respected as a contender in the Hip Hop game.

Produced by June James(June The Jenius) and LilJuMadeTheBeat, this record solidifies Zu as one of the hottest newcomers in the game. His Atlanta upbringing and southern roots play out in his raw lyrical prowess. In the video, you will see this young rapper partying in a warehouse surrounding by beautiful woman playing with fire. One element of this release that is most notable is the shot of Zu walking out of a house burning and grass burning. That scene gave the song a more authentic feel.

You will hear this emcee say things such as “I’m lit you better not play with me I keep the K on me, cook a n***a  a** up like hibachi, I swear I’m on fire be hot like an arson”. His conscious tongue over trap beats, is a big part of why is original sound is reaching new heights in 2020.

Being heavily influenced by Hip Hop icons Jay Z, Lil Wayne, and Master P, Zu is on path to one day join the ranks of some of his favorite musical artists. “Fire” is proof that he has what it takes to make it big time in the music business.

Rapper and author Lil Richye has returned with the visual for his hit single “I Want The Bag“.  At just age 15-years-old, the Charlotte, NC native is already a performance veteran with over a decade of experience under his belt, having been an entertainer since the age of 3. As an artist, songwriter, entertainer, author, influencer and fashion trendsetter, he has taking his level of creativity to new heights.

Produced by mega hit producer Zaytoven, this release is his biggest and best to date. Being heavily rooted in church and singing in the choir, he and the hit maker connect on many levels outside of rap music. In January of 2019, Lil Richye starred in Lifetime’s The Rap Game hosted by Jermaine Dupri, who dubbed his little brother’s PB3 collective as “the next Kris Kross” when they met. This experience led to him working with Zatytoven, and the rest is history.

On this video you will see the North Carolina native hard at work. One moment he is cutting hair in the barbershop, and the next he is washing the tires on a Mercedes Benz. As he goes hard in the booth to prove his worth and determination to make it big, he links up with Zaytoven and they prepare to take the music world by storm.With authentic storytelling and raw swagger, he draws musical influence from Tupac, Slick Rick and KRS ONE, J. Rémy Martin presents ‘Rémy Producers’ sixth season with Jermaine Dupri as the face of the program. ‘Rémy Producers’is designed to discover and celebrate upcoming and aspiring music producers. They would compete for the chance to win a co-sign with Grammy Award-winning producer, Jermaine Dupri, of SO SO Def Records to create the next hottest hit in music. The ‘Rémy Producers’ contest officially began last Thursday with Dupri officially announcing the call-for-submissions. He is encouraging aspiring beat makers of all experience levels to submit their tracks to the official program website: RemyProducers.com.

For the past five years, ‘Rémy Producers’ has created a platform where producers can now have a chance of being heard and recognized by the best in the game. The other super producers that will be participating this year will be Zaytoven, Boi-1Da and TRAKGIRL. There will be four regional competitions, the last ones standing will face off at the finale in Atlanta. 

To kick-off season six of the ‘Rémy Martin Producers’ Series, there were an exceptional roster of music industry leaders, producers and creatives including Zaytoven, Boi-1Da, TRAKGIRL, hosted by Miss Info and DJ Envy. They provided the next generation of producers, execs and moguls with tips and tricks to make it in the industry during a series of panels! The Music Producers Summit took place in NYC at Live Nation headquarters last week Wednesday. The panels were highly informative and shed light on the inner workings of the music business.

So So Def’s Jnyflower Choe chats with Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson about hip hop and technology while on Scoop B Radio

On a recent episode of Scoop B Radio, Jnyflower Choe,  chats with me about surviving in Silicon Valley and it’s similarity to the hip-hop landscape. Choe also mentions a goal of her company which is to increase tech job opportunities in her homeland of Korea.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: The thing I really respect about your profile is that in addition to managing Jermaine Dupri you have meshed your liking of the hip hop game with the tech world if I’m correct.

Jnyflower Cho: Yes I think it works hand in hand in the way it’s cultivated. I think a lot of people don’t understand technology and want to. So the tech community had to come together and support each other, so they could have something amazing. And I think that’s where hip hop came from. It came from a support system. It came from a voice and trying to resolve an issue. That’s what technology is. It takes all the inconveniences of our lives and trying to put a solution to it. They had to stick together to make this Silicon Valley that we know now.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: Tell me more about what you do in the tech world.

Jnyflower Cho: I have a holding firm, which is kind of like a private equity firm where money is raised. So you either take that and invest it in different tech companies or you create an incubator. So I take tech companies that need some help or I resolve their real estate issues. I think a lot of times when you’re raising money for a tech company, the problem is that you spend a lot of your money paying rent. So if you can take that money and instead of paying rent, if you take that money and instead of paying rent put it into a great technology or software, it’s able to help you be more productive. I’m from Korea and Korea technology is very big and there is a community of that where it’s very open and scattered around. So I created an incubator where I’m developing now on a land so that I can have some of the tech companies here and move them to Korea. Because one of the problems I think Korea has is jobs. Once you’re between the ages of 30 and 40, the job market just isn’t there. So if you take that technology over there, where they’re much more advanced and then be able to implement it into some of the creative technology that we have here, I think that’s a way we can help each other and is mutually beneficial. And one of my things is, any business that you get into whether you need the help or you’re trying to find help, it has to be mutually beneficial for both parties and that’s what I’m doing with my company.

Nia Kay of Lifetime’s Rap Game caught up with Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson and discussed Queen Latifah’s influence. Photo via: Instagram

Queen Latifah is royalty. Just Another Day, U.N.I.T.Y., Latifah’s Had It Up To Here and Ladies First are the Queen’s classics!  If you don’t remember all of that, well then, heck, she was Khadijah James on Living Single.

But what happens when a Chicago teen actually knows the body of  work of said East Orange, New Jersey native Dana Owens aka Queen Latifah?

That’s where Nia Kay, enters the scene. Star of Jermaine Dupri’s Rap Game reality show on Lifetime TV. Nia got to know the Queen, a judge on that show while on set.

Appearing on a recent episode of the Scoop B Radio Podcast, Nia Kay broke it on down.

“Queen Latifah like she became my fave after seeing her in person,” Nia Kay told me. 

“So I was just like: ‘Queen Latifah, oh my gosh.’ Like you could feel the legendary-ness; like in her. You could feel, you could just see it, feel it in the atmosphere, everything. So it was like, just meeting her, she was like: ‘I’m glad you lived up to the hype.’ I was the only one she told that to. So it was like she already knew me when I walked through the doors.”

Apparently Nia Kay’s counterparts saw the vibe and thought it was a conspiracy. Not so fast, says Nia Kay!

“So all the other parents were telling my dad: ‘like this competition is rigged, you guys knew Queen Latifah blah blah blah.’

Nia Kay and her family took it all in stride!

“We didn’t know her,” said Nia Kay. “It’s the same way Jermaine found us on social media, she found us on social media. She didn’t find your child so you mad.”

On a cooler note, Nia Kay is enjoying the success of her latest EP, The Duchess that dropped in May. The seven track EPs is available via Apple Music and showcases her charisma and talent.
