No, this is not a late April Fool’s prank. Two of R&B’s biggest stars have indeed come together on one track. This afternoon a remixed version of Beyonce’s “Jealous,” featuring a verse from Chris Brown hit the net. Although Breezy’s crooning is intended for Queen B, his lyrics may just hold a deeper meaning in light of his recent break-up with on-again, off-again bae Karrueche Tran.

]]> Fredo Santana x Kendrick LamarA lot of hip-hop fans love to make distinctions between  “high rap” and “low rap.” It’s a silly distinction that’s full of valuations and judgments, but even when people “oppose” this distinction, what they actually do is just replace what someone else considers low with what they themselves consider high.

Songs like “Jealous” disrupt these masked judgments. Fredo and Kendrick certainly have different fanbases, but that has nothing to do with their ability to make music together. Building up from parallel experiences of losing friends to death and betrayal, they vent their frustrations on mutual ground, demonstrating that they both stand on it despite different points of origin.
