New Orleans own, Jay Electronica took to Twitter to hint to the world that a collaboration with the Chicago native and artist, Chance the Rapper is on the way!
According to Yahoo Music, rapper, Jay just got finished touring in North America. But apparently, that isn’t stopping Jay from coming back and going straight to work.

Jay tweets “We about to surprise attack y’all. Well I guess it ain’t a surprise no more. But it’s still an attack! lol”

It has not been revealed what Jay and Chance are going to attack their fans with. This could be a collaborative album, mixtape or maybe a new song in the making. He continues on in his tweets and mentions Chance, stating “No matter who call or write or ask… don’t push the button because of the pressure. Let’s tweak it to perfection.” Any Jay Electronica fan will understand that no one really knows when this “surprise attack” collab will drop but in Jay’s words, he says “Very soon.”

Tributes for the late Phife Dawg have been rightfully pouring in since he tragically passed away last month. You can also now add Jay Electronica to the long list, as the enigmatic rapper paid tribute to the legend at his concert in Minneapolis last night. Jay did so with help from local rapper, Metasota, as they both told the crowd, “Rest in Peace, Phife.” From there, Jay got the audience involved singing A Tribe Called Quest‘s iconic lyric, “Can I kick it?” with them responding “Yes, you can!” The performance was a huge one for Jay, who recently canceled his scheduled appearance at SXSW at the last minute.

Within the past couple of years, expecting to hear a new Jay Electronica track has become similar to expecting to see a UFO, in the middle of the day and capturing it on camera. Despite Hip-Hop’s need for a Jay Electronica album, the rarity of his music has made every new verse dropped by the New Orleans rapper an event. While performing at the Bardot in Miami, FL, Jay blessed the crowd with the performance of an unreleased track. No details of the songs title, origin, or producer as of yet. But hey, it wasn’t mysterious it would not be Jay Electronica.
